We live in Normandy and have dined here several times over the years (including before the revamp). This time is probably our last. Starters were fine but the main courses were all below average. Our son was visiting and, as did I, had filet steak. It arrived on an unheated plate and the steak was dry, overdone (asked for Medium) and barely warm. A baked potato was so overdone it was really a leather ball with a small amount of edible potato. Only other accompaniment was one forlorn wedge of tomato. The pepper sauce was thin. Husband had the baked camembert. Again it was over-done and dry (sticking to the wooden box and not gooey at all.
Service was average to poor. The senior waitress gave a flounce when we dispensed with desert (why offer to courses as an option on a set menu if you don't approve?).
Nobody said anything because it just crept over the line and none of us wanted to spoil a nice day out. However I have had stomach cramps for several days after and it put a downer on the rest of our time together. What comes of leaving food standing and not keeping it hot!
I would like to think this wasn't simply because we were English (and we have experienced second class service at times in France for that reason, sadly)...but I suspect the major part of the clientele were retiree residents of Houlgate and they had better looking plates of food than we did.

A very nice setting, but the food can be prepared with some more love.
The sea bass was very very dry and we’ve send it back. We got a better one within a few minutes.
The steak tartare was not as you would expect in France, with only an egg yolks, (too) largely chopped pickles and onions on the site.
The steak was well cooked.
The guy who served us was very kind and offered good service.

The house offer a great change from the standard fare in busy seaside resorts. Nice ambiance in a shady garden!

Slightly off the main drag - just round the corner from the two busy seafood restaurants - so a bit easier to get a table. Nice-looking terrace (note: don't sit under the gap in the awning if it's raining). Efficient but pleasant waiting staff. Good range of seafood and menus.

We found this restaurant for one mistake. And we were very happy , we were waiting for table 30 min outside so I will recommend to do reservation before. It's traditional restaurant that offers meals with Camembert and sea food ! I order 12 oysters but they had just 4 (it was late) so finally I took 4 oysters and 12 shrimps with glass of wines from my boyfriend took Beef with camembert and potato with glass of wine. For the Desert we had chocolate Cale and crêpe with chocolate. We paid 56 € for everything. Service was corect. The only negative thing is That hotel guests were very loud ! They were acting like they're in their home and it was distorting the charm. I will revoked it to everybody who like traditional kitchen !
