A very basic hotel/residence in the sleepy lakeside town of Thonon-Les-Bains. Stayed here while on business in Geneva (no accommodation available there at short notice). We had a standard room with one double bed and a children's bunk bed. Clean and functional, the room has everything that you need, including free wi-fi. Drawbacks were the noisy hum that emanated from the electrical circuit box and the deserted reception area (there was never anyone around to ask questions). If you arrive late at night (like we did), I would strongly recommend you contact the hotel in advance as reception is closed and you will need a four digit code to access the front entrance. Despite what their website suggests, there is no hotel parking. The public car park adjacent to the hotel closes at 9.30pm. You will need to hunt for a parking space on the road, which are not always available.
Thonon-les-Bains itself is almost deserted on weekday nights—we could only find one restaurant that was open for business. You may want to consider renting a car to travel to roadside restaurants closer to the Swiss border.More
