Stayed at Il Cicero last week of May with our 1 year old son. From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming and tried to make us feel at home (and spoke English!). Stayed in a 2 bedroom chalet which was perfect for our needs - had all the amenities you could want, simple and very clean. Prebooked a travel cot which was all made up for us too. On site the swimming pool was great for grown ups and children. May was a great time to go as we pretty much had the site to ourselves but the weather was still hot. The beach had not yet been set up but the manageress kindly lent us chairs and a parasol so we could still enjoy it. The restaurant served great, fresh food and welcoming to those with children. By the end of the week, the campsite transformed as lots of locals descended. Was nice to see the swimming pool and restaurant in full swing and despite the language barrier all the Italian families were super friendly. In fact it was a pleasure to venture away from the resorts near Catania where the Brits usually go and experience real Sicily.

We had read reviews before we went complaining about the train tracks, busy road and noisy entertainment. Our chalet backed right onto the train track but we really didn't find the trains a disturbance as they stoppped running during the night when we were sleeping. The road didn't seem so busy to cause us any problems and there was no entertainment or animations running when we visited as the season was just starting. Glad we ignored these reviews.

San Giorgio is on the doorstop. A friendly town with lovely cafes, restaurants, a supermarket and a great playground. Really family friendly everywhere we went.

Within driving distance were various towns and sites of interest and we enjoyed a trip to Tyndaris and San Marco D'Alunzio. Both worth a visit.

So to sum up - had a great week, would certainly plan to go back, probably at exactly the same time of year before the season starts and it gets hot and busy. Were made to feel there was nothing we couldn't ask - a home from home. Oh and a complete bargain too!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a chalet away from the bar

We spent one week here during June. We stayed in one of the two bedroom bungalows. Here's some of the key things.
Accommodation
This had everything we could possibly need. Decent sized kitchen with plates, coffee maker etc. The outside space we had was large with a table and some deck chairs. Enough space for us to have a BBQ. The best thing was we had a view out the sea. Shower was good no issues. Air conditioning worked well.
Facilities on Site
Lovely pool and private beach over the road. Was great to come for a swim each morning. Restaurant was great and service was brilliant. Did fantastic pizza. Also was able to do a trip the some islands through the campsite. Also site is walking distance to a train station so very handy for some day trips.
Service
The service from the moment we arrived was fantastic. All the people working there made us feel very welcome. They lent us a BBQ no issues and when we ran out of bread gave us some for free. Always friendly service.

I would recommend this campsite and would love to come back.

Our family holiday (2 sons, 7y and 9y old) in Sicily was made a success thanks the the great hospitality at camping il cicero.
We have been staying in camping bungalows before, and the ones at il cicero are well maintained and offering enough shadow on the terras (quite fundamental in the south of Europe). Furthermore, the pool was easily accessible (good opening hours) and offered enough fun for the boys. The restaurant offers very decent food (the fresh fish was superb) at a modest price.
The campsite is perfectly located to take off for some day-trips around the north-east area of Sicily. Visiting the nice towns of Cefalu and Taormina is recommended, but the biggest attractions are (obviously) the Etna volcano and the Eoli Islands in front of the coast, which you can see them from the beach opposite of the camping. These are really "must see" attractions.
A (rental) care is recommended, and we booked one at the camping itself, including shuttle-service to and from the airport (so no hassle at car rental desks at the airport). The car was not new, but well maintained and cheaper compared to rental companies (for identical size car)
All in all, no complaints about the campsite and getting the very useful advice for day-trips by the staff brings that little "extra" for a carefree holiday with the family.

Our first trip to Sicily we wanted something self catering but with a pool. We looked at reviews and chose this place.
When we arrived we were greeted by very nice staff who made you feel very welcome.

We were shown to our accommodation which was so disappointing. It was very small & very basic, one bedroom was so small that the bed was wall to wall. The kitchen area was very small (about a metre in total) and one of the two cupboard doors was hanging off. There was a very small L shaped bench which was the seating area - nowhere inside to put a table and chairs. The bathroom smelt of damp and when I closed the door to use the facilities there was hair and dust build up on the floor.

The air conditioning was on a meter. Right behind the accommodation was a train track which we were unaware of and was quite a noisy shock when a train went by.

The pool area looked inviting but a bit grubby. The beach was across the main road which was quite busy and an additional noise while sitting in the bar area.

This is budget accommodation but the price we were being charged was not a budget price.

Stayed for a week in a bungalow at Il Cicero. Great location, lovely pool and baby pool, right across the road from beach which U.S. A mixture of sand and pebbles. Shallow calm sea good for kids. Deck chairs (rather than loungers) on the beach and loungers around the pool. We were upgraded on arrival so had a 2 bed bungalow with basic cooking facilities. Baker comes round every morning with fresh bread and croissants, and fruit/veg man most evenings. The staff are super helpful and friendly and there is an entertainment team who do volleyball, aqua aerobics, Latin dance, kids disco, table tennis etc. The only downside to this is was quite noisy at our bungalow if you wanted an early night. (Campsite is further away from entertainment). We had a excellent week and I would definitely recommend and go back to Il Cicero. Thanks for a great week.
