This hotel has been severely criticised on TripAdvisor because of noise, poor service, no air conditioning and poor quality restaurant.
I couldn’t disagree more.
• Air conditioning, well, despite its fancy façade it is really an old fashioned hotel and to install air conditioning would be impossible and not worth it.
• Noise? Well it has roller blinds and double glazed windows so no traffic noise if shut. Even if open (which I had) I could still sleep well. You have a choice if you want something different and not close to a main road.
• Staff. So friendly happy and helpful
• Dinner. One of the best I have had in Germany for the price. First course was salmon tartare that was a mix of smoked and fresh salmon. Then the duck breast was one of the best I have ever tasted.
• Wines not a huge selection by the glass, but very carefully selected and both the white and rosé were superb.
• Waitress. An absolute delight (fröhlich).
One warning. They do not have a lift. But there are only 2 floors.

Room Tip: Excellent Restaurant. Near the freeway if you want to get going in a hurry

This hotel is located on a busy street in Ingolstadt near the city center. We were on a self guided bicycle tour along the Danube and our tour company booked us here. The hotel is a 'city' hotel and it was completely booked. There is NO ELEVATOR or LIFT and we had to drag our suitcases up a spiral staircase. So if you have any mobility issues this is not a good place for you. Thee rooms were a bit small and the bathroom was very, very tiny--fortunately we are all small people so it wasn't a problem. It was a warm evening and we had to open the window to cool off our room--but the street noise was a bit bothersome. No A/C. We ate dinner in the dining room and it was very good--the best fries we had all week, the staff was very accommodating, breakfast was good. It was an OK place to stay but if the lack of a lift and A/C are of concern you may want to seek out another hotel.

Room Tip: If they have any rooms away from the street --ask for it.

Art Hotel Pfeffermuhle is an good hotel, unfortunately located by a quite noisy main street in Ingolstadt. The locations is however good as an overnight stay, as it is very close to the Autobahn. Rooms are of average standard, and so is the breakfast buffet.

We stayed here one night while on a Danube cycling trip. Unlike the other hotels the cycling company had reserved for us, this one - the Art Hotel Pffeffermuhle - is on a busy suburban street, rather than in the town center. This is, we presume, because of its proximity to the bike trail - but, all in all, it would have been nicer to be in the town center, closer to restaurants and shops. The hotel is next to a gas station and right across a busy four-lane highway from a large, barbed-wire-enclosed military installation. Like many three-star European hotels, it has no air conditioning in the guest rooms - so you need to leave your windows open to cool off the room in warm weather, which means letting in bugs and noise. Here, LOTS of noise, because of the highway.

But, other than its location, the hotel was pretty cool. There is lots of artwork everywhere - all contemporary, mostly average in quality (you sort of wonder if the owner is a painter), but with a few more interesting pieces. The rooms are clean and modern, and the ground-floor restaurant sort of wraps around a central courtyard with outdoor dining. It seemed like there were more business travelers here than vacationing cyclists - but the hotel was accommodating to cyclists, with a metal shed in the rear parking lot to store the bicycles overnight. Staff was very friendly. Wifi is a little odd - they print out an encoded username and password for you at the front desk, with each username/password working for one device only. So, if you have a phone and laptop, you'll need to ask them for two sets of logins.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the highway, and it was NOISY. Ask for a room on the other side of the building...

This hotel was booked as part of the German Danube bike ride package. It is situated on a main road (which can tend to be noisy) and a 20 minute walk to the centre of Ingolstadt - but just a block away from the largest bicycle store in Ingolstadt! It is thoroughly modern and new, with a restaurant and bar 'on site'. Our room was spacious with modern fittings throughout. The bathroom was small yet well appointed with a shower over the bath. We ate our evening meal at the restaurant - which was not served in a timely fashion at all (annoying as we just wanted to eat!) Continental breakfast was served 'buffet style' and we ate this in the small outdoor courtyard. A small shed is available for the secure storage of bicycles - although linen cartage racks also take up considerable room.

Room Tip: Try to book a room away from the main road.
