Near the center with 2 good supermarkets closeby and restaurants. Plenty of parking possibilities P1-P9. Kid friendly hotel with various options to keep the kids busy during the summer. Lagunan connects via a tunnel to the hotel ( left side) and on the right you can find a cinema, ice skating and Eldorado ( activities for younger children, table tennis). The children also gather in the center of the hotel on the 1st floor where the rooms connect. Although playing here seems to be prohibited I think it is permitted when the weather is bad. My daughter made many friends here. The disco can be enjoyed by the children as well on Friday and Saturday. There is bowling next door to the disco.
Dinning experience is not that pleasant as it is a huge place with thousands of people. Breakfast and dinner is average since they cater to large numbers. You can expect a long line at the warm meal section for dinner which is annoying. Food finishes fast too but they do re-fill after about 10 minutes. Although there are various desserts, they all seem similar and after a few days you can get tired of it.
The hotel rooms are not noise proof and we were disturbed every night by noisy children in the corridor and noises from other rooms. The hotel room door had a large gap and didn't shut properly which contributed to the disturbances. There were 3 lifts but very slow. Luckily we were on the 1st floor with the stairs next door to our room. Our hotel room had plenty of closet space and was a good size. Would be great if the rooms can be re-furbished with new carpeting.
Wifi is free near the reception area but you have to pay to have it in your room. 2 Euros per hr, 5 Euros per day or 25 Euros for 7 days.
Overall it was a pleasant experience and we found Willingen to be a beautiful place!

Room Tip: Higher rooms better views, however you have to be patient for the lifts

Really an amazing hotel if you want to vacation as a family. The hotel and the town have a lot to offer for families. The hotel - multiple restaurants, a night club, bowling and arcade, massage and sauna. Great food. The town - skiing, mountain biking (some of the best in Deutschland) and nice restaurants. The only downsides - hotel rooms have no A/C - rarely a huge issue at this altitude. Hotel has three slow elevators and hundreds of rooms... However, the stairs are easy to find and somehow fit the healthy theme of the town. It is great for families - so don't go for that quiet intimate getaway.

Hotel is well situated close to skip slopes and transport. Most packages include meals which are pretty good food and host of activities offering within the hotel complex. Rooms get cleaned around lunch which ones needs to accommodate if you don't ski though, overall a very pleasant experience but I would go to Gastehaus/Pension next time rather

Don't go, if you do not like children (playing with elevators) or having breakfast and dinner with 500 other guests.

But if you like the nice comfortable and large rooms and off course the pistes (at walking distance) this is a great place to be. There is a great wellness centre and swimming pool near by.

A bit pity that wireless has not been included in the room fees (25 euro's for 7 days).

A great place for families with (young) children.

We are a family with 3 smaller kids, and ended up booking this hotel, as our other choices were fully booked. It was a nice ski holiday. Really folks, it is OK. Breakfast buffet excellent, dinner buffet good - good variety - you will not go hungry!! Yes, the hotel is large, during our stay completely full, so not small and cozy, or very modern-looking, but we felt good, things function well. The kids went swimming in the indoor pool one evening, then bowling another night. As for the entertainment in the hotel or around the hotel I cannot speak to, as I said, with 3 small kids skiing all day, we were happy to crash at 10pm. There are vans that transport from the Sauerland Stern hotel to ski region, although some lifts are right behind the hotel. The reception folks were helpful, I asked for a different room, as the first one had a strong freshly-painted odor, and was promptly given a different room. Rooms are large, comfortable, clean. The main point of our short holiday was being outside in fresh air and sun, and during the time in the hotel, we ate well, we played some, and slept good. Region of Willingen is cute, perfect for kids learning to ski, very good ski school Wiwa. Our one complaint would be the elevators - the wait was too long, perhaps reprogramming so that it wouldn´t make a stop when going up and then again down on the same floor.

There are a lot more things that town and region has to offer, we really did not get time to explore the offer. Batteries recharged, thanx to all the hard working staff at Sauerland Stern hotel.
