Stayed here for one night with my Mum. It was exceptional considering what we paid. Comfortable, clean, extremely friendly hosts (very little English spoken). A real authentic family affair - local hospitality. The breakfast was generous and parking was available. Although it is not in the absolute heart of Cochem, we found the 15-20 min walk to the center of town for dinner extremely pleasant considering the beautiful scenery along the river. A very German experience.

This pension is worth booking for several days to explore the Mosel valley. There are standard rooms as well as mini apartments. We had three rooms: a double, a two room apartment with double bed in one room, a single bed in another and a sofa in a small sitting room, and full kitchen and a double with balcony and full kitchen. All kitchens had dishes and silverware, fridge with wine for purchase, and one had a mini dishwasher as well. The decor is Old World but not kitschy. My only complaint about the room would be that though there was a lovely coffeemaker and filters, there was no coffee, though you could purchase from the supermarket next door. Each room has an excellent binder full of tourist and transportation information and a brief history of Cochem in English, German and French.
Herr Schneider greets his guests every afternoon though he only speaks German. We were fine as my husband and I speak German so we were treated to 90 year old Herr Schneider's life story, which was very interesting, in return for helping him read the reservation papers that were printed out. He has a Russian couple who does the breakfast and cleaning up, but they were not there when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon. The names of guests, their assigned room number are written on the chalkboard in the entrance to the building and the room keys are hanging there.
The grounds of the pension are lovely and include several picnic tables.
Cochem is a great place to stay for a few days and just relax. I found it by googling picturesque German small towns, and the town is fairy tale like. Excellent wine everywhere and stores in town are open on Sundays. Rent bikes and ride al by the river or take a river cruise

Stayed for just one night on my way down to Ettal on my bike. It was easy to find and parking seemed very secure, off the main road up a little secluded lane.
I booked a single room but they'd run out so I got a double with a small seating space, kitchen and shower area for no extra charge.
The room was spotlessly clean and i was made to feel really welcomed by the owners. iIt's off the main road and it was really quiet and I slept extremely well. The shower was refreshingly powerful and the bathroom amenities were perfect.
Breakfast was amazing! Fresh orange juice and yoghurt, fresh crispy bread rolls and sliced german bread with a selection of cold meat and cheese. I was offered coffee, black and green tea which really set me up for southward journey. The best bit though was the price, only €35 It was so good I happily paid €40 and it was still a bargain. The accommodation was a 10 minute walk to the centre of cochem along the river side and the views of the castle and the mosel were stunning. Vielen dank :)

We booked online, so it is difficult to really tell how cute this place is and how much space for such a low price! It's an entire apartment with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen and 2 bathrooms. And in the morning, we had breakfast at the Pension Schneider home. Our hosts did not speak English, but we were able to effectively communicate with the little German we know and google translate. By far, my favorite place we stayed out of 14 in 3 weeks. Definitely would recommend. Only drawback-stairs up to apt. On 3rd floor.

We called days in advance to confirm our reservation and parking. We were traveling with another couple and none of us spoke German. When we arrived, we were greeted by a older gentleman who spoke NO English. Only one room key was available, the other reservation had a note in German. We found another hotel guest to help translate and learned that one of our rooms was off property. We were very unhappy as we had 1) called before arriving in Germany and were not told of this and 2) two couples had one car and though we would be together. After we finally found the offsite property, we had to call the english speaking owner (who was away for the evening) to figure out how to get into the room - it was very frustrating.

The offsite room as a one bedroom apartment - quite nice with a great view. The onsite room was very old fashioned, small and overstuffed with furniture.

The breakfast was included and quite good.

Room Tip: If you book, ask in advance where you will be staying.
