Room with a fantastic view on castle & river side. Very very central location near the centre of the city. Excellent breakfast and a very friendly service. Safe storage for our bikes. Warmly recommended !

Real quick and first thing, DO NOT try bringing your car into the hotel entrance without first speaking to the owner. It is tricky to negotiate tge steep incline and very narrow curve. Trust me I learned a lesson thinking I could get it done. WRONG. The owner told me I should have read about it on his website. Website! Anyway proceed with caution at least until you learn how tge locals do it. No kidding. Well Cochem is fantastic and a real great stop. Tge icing on the cake was that our room had a to due for view of the castle. Our pictures are unbelievable. Getting to the castle is another story. You need to be a pretty good hiker and have 'young' legs. Also don't miss shutting in the square having a coffee and strudel people watching. For real fun take tge boat trip up tge Mosel. Hey we learned that the river actually has working locks. Very unique and interesting. Plenty to do and see with some of the nicest scenery around. Has my vote! P.S. Veronica the co-owner will make you 'eggs to order' for your breakfast. Plus their chambermaid will wash, dry, food and deliver your dirty wash for a slight surcharge.r

Room Tip: 100% ask for the Tummelshen room on the 2nd floor. Even has a covered patio which is quaint and romantic.

If you ever are going to Cochem, this is the place to stay. Dont even consider anything else unless its fully booked. To begin, the staff(owners) are amazing, they will do anything to make sure your stay perfect. If you live closer to the river you get more noise and considering that Villa Tummelchen is about 300 m from the river, it takes you about 45 seconds to get to the city center. AND BY THE WAY on your way down make sure to visit the wine cellar/bar about 70 m down on your left side. They got the best wine in the area, and its ridiculous cheap, you get a bottle of the best riesling made by them self for about 10 euro, other places in town charge 20-30 euros for a bottle..

What surprised me most about Villa Tummelchen was the beds. I stayed in about 200 hotels the last ten years, and the beds are something you would use at home.

I only got one thing to put my finger on and that is that during the breakfast the glasses very small and you need like 4 glasses to satisfy your thirst. THIS might be because of the good wine from the wine brothers down the street..

If your ever going to Cochem, stay at Villa Tummelchen.

Room Tip: Close to everything

The owners are terrific. The location is ideal. Steep walk to the castle, or down to the market area.

Rooms are comfortable

Great rate for location

Getting there by car can be challenging as most GPS maps get confused, so call ahead or good map the location ahead of time.

Highly recommend

Located on the road that leads up to the Cochem Castle. The family that runs this place is very friendly and speaks English well. We stayed in the Bummes room which has a separate entry and its own little patio. The key for the room works for the front door too, so you can still access the terrace and dining room at night. They have drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic) you can purchase in a fridge in the dining room.

The road to this house is very narrow and steep and looks like a pedestrian only walkway (Zollstrasse and Schlossstrasse). They have free parking further up the hill on Am Tummelchen. There is also free streetside parking there. My advice is to drive to the parking area first, which is much less stressful than going up the narrow street. There is a stairway down to the hotel street from the parking which you'll have to carry your luggage.

The free breakfast was great and the views were amazing. We will definitely be staying here again.
