Regular stop for tour groups on Great Ocean Road to spot koalas in the wild, but only worth it if passing. We drove up the dirt road couple km and saw three, although either high up or slightly far away. Far better experience at Wildlife Wonders futher along the road at Apolo Bay.

We saw only two Koalas sleeping, perched at the top of one tree although this is (a Koala Walk ?). The place is very grassy, wet & muddy from rains & forested. Signs warning of venomous snakes gives one the fear as you walk along, constantly watching your steps & advancing very carefully. There were some kangaroos near the entrance of the park - in the distance on an enclosed area, besides a caravan. The Kafe Koala and General Store were closed - up for sale . Frankly there isn't much to see here, not worth to make the trip all the way here . And risked getting bitten by venomous snakes!

We walked here for at least an hour...no koalas at all!
Better to spot them at Tower Hill, near the picnic area.
Or at Raymond Island, with also a nice free ferry ride!

We enjoyed the opportunity to stretch our legs while driving the Great Ocean Road to stop at this nature path, just off the highway and beside the tourist store. It is a very short walk on a dirt road with eucalyptus trees bordering the road, and if one looks way up high in the trees you might be lucky to see a koala or more sleeping. Would have been nicer to see the bears up close and personal, but at least we saw them in their native habitat.
