“fantastic experience”

Gawler Ranges Wilderness Safari Day Tour
Reviewed 18 May 2016

This was a great way to see the Australian dry lands, national park, wildlife and do some glamping with great food and company. Totally spoiled by the staff. Geoff was an amazing guide and seems to be able to do just about anything. The food was great. Rossi is a treasure to talk to and check out her art work and book. We had the wonderful experience of feeding a rescued joey. This crew made us all feel at home. Wildlife, you feel you can reach out and touch. Are you interested in rocks or geological formations? Just an all round great place to be and stay for awhile.

Geoff and his team are simply the best! We only took the day tour but it was a lot of fun. The view on Lake Gairdner was spectacular particular going on a nice day. We also saw a lot wild kangaroos on the fun 4wd drive.

We did not stay at the camp but Geoff was kind to take us to there. I can't imagine how nice those are set up in the outback! Hope I will get chance to go there next time! Going with Geoff's tour is highly recommended.

Our day tour of the Gawler Ranges with Rosie was a great experience. It was a personalised day as there were just the two of us. Rosie is a very knowledgeable guide, who obviously loves the area. We saw a great variety of scenery from salt lakes to unusual rock formations and got up close to the wildlife, including emus and kangaroos. The 4WD meant that we could travel far from the unsealed roads and tackle some steep, rocky tracks.
There are longer tours available, based at a luxury tented site, but sadly we could not fit this into our itinerary.

We took this tour at the end of our holiday in Australia last year and we loved it. We have seen so many beautifull things in Australia but this tour was one of our favourites. Nature, the animals the places we visited, it was overwhelming. Geoff and Rene made us feel very welcome and the place where we stayed was very nice. We hope to be able to visit again in the future.

I often have a giggle at the couples logo that accompanies my reviews. We are, in fact, a couple in our 80s and having been bitten by the travel bug many years ago have consequently travelled extensively in Australia and beyond. For many years we have included a Gawler Ranges Wilderness tour in our bucket list and finally got to experience this adventure which is pretty much on our door step. It seems we have saved the best till last.
Right from the relaxed friendly nature of correspondence with Irene when booking the tour to the extraordinary day we spent with Geoff this was a wonderful outing.
A visit to the permanent camp left us wishing we had elected to spent time there. We were fascinated with the furniture made almost entirely out of the fallen branches of trees in the surrounding forest Unique but obviously extremely comfortable in these spacious tents.
Geoff is a man totally in love with his environment. He knows every aspect of it, vehemently seeks to preserve and protect it and desires to share his knowledge and passion with his quests. Yet he achieves this in such a relaxed conversational fashion that one feels that he is an old friend we are visiting and is showing us around his back yard.
We were astounded to find that the vast majority of his guests are from outside Australia. All you "grey nomads" touring the country should immediately plan to head for Wudinna S. A. and take a tour with Gawler Ranges Wilderness.
