A really lovely beach, nice a safe for kids, lovely soft sand, very clean toilets. We had a lovely lobster meal here, great day out.

I have been to Saona Island 9 years ago when it was still a beautiful Island with birds, clean sand and pristine waters. Now it is only a tourist trap. I am not sure what other people see in this highly commercialized place full of pushy massage giving ladies, who will not let you even relax for few minutes constantly offering their services. The music is blasting from speakers, so there is a slim chance for any relaxation in wild life refuge that used to be here one day. Boats are coming by dozens so you can smell fumes all day. What a waste of money these days. They used to offer this trip for around $90 now you can get the same thing as low as $55 at your hotel, they will separate you to boats by language at port, so do not waste your money for more expensive trip. The treatment is the same so is the Island. Very sad thing happened to Saona during the last decade.

Getting to this island was a challenge, but our guide was extraordinary, stay with Miguel!
Wonderful excursion to this island.
So beautiful, clear blue water, palm trees everywhere.
There were no children on this excursion. Stopped on the way to wade in waist deep water, finding starfish. Photographer "paparazzi " took gorgeous photos in surroundings. Cash only deal. Some handmade jewelry available on the island, but no hounding.
Drinks in coconuts, great buffet. Lounge in one of the hammocks, between two palm trees. Restrooms not quite standard, but for what was needed....ok.
Wear sand shoes, due to very rocky areas getting into water, lots of coral underfoot.
Would definitely recommend

I have never been on an island so well kept and great for tourists. There was coral we were warned about, if you want to walk around it you may want to bring shoes in case there is some left on the ocean floor. It was amazing that you could walk forever and be out pretty far and the ocean was still up to your shoulders. I didn't see much marine life but many people brought their own snorkels and were swimming around. Next time this is something I need to bring with me.
