We took the Saona Island excursion. Speed boat to a natural pool in ocean to swim, drink, and take pictures. Continued on to Saona. Beach is beautiful! Food was good but everything was gone quick. Get in line to get your food, otherwise people will go for seconds and you might miss out. Took a catamaran back. Lots to drink! Water was beautiful. Great day trip.

Well organised and fun from start to finish!
Our guide Jose talked about the history of the Dominican Republic on the long bus ride there. Very well educated fella and mixed in cracking humour too . Traveled on the catamaran to the island. Stopping off to snorkel and then play about on a sand bar .
Three hours at the island where we had an amazing lunch. Lobster was some of the best I’ve ever tasted.
Constant drinks supplied throughout and great music.
Speed boat back to the bus and chilled out trip back to the hotel. If we’d done this trip at the start of our holiday we’d have booked it again it was so good

We deliberated whether to go to Catalina Island or to Saona. The group was divided but in the end, we settled on Saona. It was a beautiful day and the ride to the island on the catamaran was fun: music, dancing, rum and coke, ham and cheese. Ok, I am an island girl but rum is just not my drink! I wish there was some other alcohol on the trip. Nevertheless, i had enough fun staring at the beautiful blue water. It was absolutely crystal clear. Saona island was ok. The beach was ok. Too many beach chairs were not in good condition and the water was colder than expected. However, lunch was pretty good: lots of options for vegetarians and meat lovers. We were comatose after lunch. , I can't say that we saw a lot of Saona but it looked wildly beautiful. The return by fast ferry was pleasant enough. We stopped for folks to bathe in the shallow pool of water off the island. I tried but the water was just too cold for me. My friends enjoyed it, however.
The Saona day trip is a typical tourist excursion. The highlight for me was the beautiful water and lunch. It was definitely worth the $50.00 that we paid. Just your typical tourist st activity.

The excursion to Isla Saona included a stop in the Natural Pool which is a spot in the Caribbean that is about 4' deep and looks like you are in a pristine swimming pool, next was a stop just off the coast of Saona where we snorkeled above an old wreck and where able to see baby stingrays down below. The Island stop included a buffet style lunch and pleanty of time to explore the island or to enjoy the loungers and the beach. You can also hire locals for a back and head massage or mingle with them an look at the items they have for sale. The water surrounding this island is pristine aqua and blue, some of the nicest frontage in the world and a must see. If your deciding between Catalina and Saona definitely go to Saona via a fun catamaran.

We took a sailboat tour to the beautiful Saona Island. It was the highlight of our vacation. The food was excellent, The Pina Coladas served in a pineapple were to die for, The locals were all very pleasant not pushy, but most of all the beach was gorgeous.
