We stayed in the Garden Flat for 3 nights as a last minute treat at the end of the summer holidays.
I wished we hadn't!
The accomadation was sandwiched between 2 properties that looked derelect. The outside area was littered with abandoned old cars and rusty corregated metal barns.
Inside wasn't much better, every soft furnishing as decorated with questionable stains and animal hair, the back garden was covered in dog poo and you couldn't open any windows because the property obviously had a serious wasp infestation. I killed 20 in my daughters bedroom!
The bathroom windows had old sheets up as curtains, both toilet seats were cracked, the upstairs toilet wouldn't even flush, although that didn't seem to bother the beetles that we kept finding in there!?!
If we could have found other accomadation we would have, but unfortunately we had to stay for the duration of our booking, and returned home covered in flea bites.
I would urge anyone contemplating booking here to stop immediately, as it is probably the worst place i've ever stayed!!
The only redeeming feature were the horses that roamed free around the grounds, much to my children's delight, unfortunately that was the only positive
My daughter got married in August 2015 at Walcot Hall. It was a wedding that you might see in a glossy magazine, so beautiful was it. We had arranged for the ceremony to be outside in front of the fountain although the weather forecast was for rain. The Walcot Hall people were absolutely brilliant and completely flexible and relaxed. Had it rained, we would have re-arranged the ceremony in the hall. The whole site is quirky and completely unique. The grounds are extensive and beautiful. The people are lovely. Don't expect IKEA!
This weekend was a joy on this small touring caravan park set in beautiful rolling countryside. Well planned and laid out with plenty of space and a short walk to the pub. We enjoyed watching the kestral swoop overhead and many other birds in the area. Perfect place to get away from it all!
A wedding weekend in Shropshire at a former residence of Clive of India : Superb grounds nice clean apartments friendly staff.
Downside : No phone or Internet access : No Taxi service for guests staying at local B&B's : Totally inadequate recycling facilities : Not great acoustics in main hall
It's obvious that the place is well used as it has that 'feel'
But we had a great time overall but would advise having around 100 guests to be comfortable
absolutely amazing. cannot fault the team at walcot. we got married there august 2013 and fell in love with the place. back then we stayed in the plassey and was thrilled with the help we got for the wedding but this was our first visit back there. I have to say at 23 weeks pregnant i was a bit concerned with how comfortable i would be, but i really didnt need to worry. not only was everything we could imagine there ready for us from blankets to cutlery and plates but they had also built a shower and kitchen unit on top of the toilet(that flushed!) that was already there. they have transformed the area surrounding the two yurts to be completely self sufficient and family friendly. its been fenced off so even if you had little ones they cant escape! :) they also had a set of 2 swings and a ping pong table for our enjoyment as well as 2 built in bbqs and a fire pit with metal boxes that you could use as seats with the hundreds of pillows/cushions left for you in the yurt and kitchen. as mentioned earlier they had built a kitchen and shower unit since the last time we were there and they were such a lush surprise. the kitchen had a sink with hot running water, all of the utensils and crockery you could need as well as cutting boards a bread bin and some shelves. although you would need to bring your own cool box for milk etc there was plenty of space for us to store the two that we brought. (and the local shops were a close enough drive to pop in and get bits when needed, plus you can get food delivered from tesco etc if needed)
the showers were amazing!! the rest of guys went for their showers in the morning whereas i prefer an evening shower, and i have to say with all the fairy lights and candles it was the most relaxing hot shower ive ever had!! haha!!
we really loved the fact that we were left alone for the duration of our stay, we went straight to the yurts (no need to check in as such) and nobody came to check on us but we knew there was help if we needed it.
just a blissful holiday in a place that we will without doubt go every year for the rest of our lives. :)
My friends and I decided that we needed a gathering of sorts to relax and enjoy some much needed time together. So we decided that glamping was the way forward, and this is the perfect place. We stayed 2 nights in of the yurts on the site of Walcott hall. I can honestly say it was better facilities than some hotels I have stayed in. The views are breathtaking , I fully recommend bringing a pair of walking boots or wellies. I could go on for days on how much I enjoyed this weekend away. But would recommend the yurts for families, couples and groups of friends. I will be back in the near future
