The pub has long been popular for its real ales and atmosphere, and all the military memorabilia. It's just installed a new pizza oven and is serving food Tuesday to Sunday. Pizzas were very good, thin crust good choice of ingredients. Also burgers and salads available.

Scarclely its only attraction but this small pub is literally 2 minutes walk from HS station and close to the Woodside Ferry terminal and U-Boat Story. Some outdoor seating but a very comfortable feel to the split level interior, mainly standing near bar, relaxed seating on the lower level (the pub is built on ground falling towards the riverfront). Good beer in fair variety and decent food. Mostly post work groups when I called in but lots of reading material for the solo visitor. A really good pub.
