I was traveling with a friend of mine from Stevenage and his dog. Not only was the inn quaint and picturesque, but the onsite restaurant had great food and very reasonably priced! The rooms were lovely; all updated with comfortable beds and large toilets! If I come through here again, I definitely want to stay here!

Room Tip: Didn't see the upper rooms, but the ground floor rooms are all very large

we haven't eaten in this area for quite a few years. so we're looking for a meal out as a family what a wonderful choice. i did get the thumbs up for picking it. lovely ambiance , nice and clean, and the staff were lovely. the meal was Amazing we really had a lovely evening and what's more we could take our little dog along rather than leave him alone in the hotel room. so thankyou The Dove Inn for a lovely evening and a lovely meal. we will most certainly be retuning ❤️

We initially booked for 4 nights, but we enjoyed our stay so much that we stayed for longer. We had an accessible room and I can safely say that it is the most 'disabled friendly' accommodation I have ever stayed in.
The staff were very friendly, whilst at the same time, efficient and professional. Nothing was too much trouble!
The food was delicious and there was certainly 'no skimping' on portion sizes.
All in all, a fantastic place for a short break/ a lunch or evening meal/or just a sociable drink.
We absolutely loved it and hope to visit again.

Stopped here on the drive back from Somerset on New Year’s Day looking for some lunch.

We were welcomed by a big roaring fireplace by the entrance into a traditionally decorated pub / restaurant area. Note that the venue is dog friendly.

The menu was also traditional, and I went for the lamb shank with champ mash which was reasonable although the champ part of the mash seemed like a last-minute-mix-stuff-into-mash (though very tasty, buttery, creamy mash) affair. Meals a little bit on the pricey side (£17 for the lamb) - you’d get higher quality in a city, certainly in a London gastropub for the same price. The service was good - all of our waitresses were polite and friendly.

Worth a special trip to? Probably not, but would certainly return for a pub lunch if in the area.

We have just returned from a 1 night stay for New Years Eve at the Dove Inn and would definitely stay there again. Lovely warm welcome on arrival and shown to our room, the room was very nicely decorated with a modern bathroom, TV with SKY box and probably the best selection of in room tea/coffee facilities we've ever had. Breakfast was included and there was a good selection of fruit juices / fruit / musli / toast & cooked breakfast and the service was friendly and efficient. There is free parking on site and we had no trouble in getting a space.
Though dinner was not included in our room price we also had dinner the night we stayed. I had a beef roast dinner and my husband had the gammon steak. both were very good, some of the other comments we had seen said they thought the food was overpriced, but we felt for the standard of the food and the service and surroundings that it was not.
Would definite stay there again.
