We stayed at the Rutland Hotel overnight on a trip up to Northumberland, thankfully there were 3 spaces left in the car park but can imagine it might be tricky at times. The welcome from the hotel staff was warm and the public areas of the hotel are smart.
I had asked for a quiet room away from the traffic on the main road and that request was met, we stayed at the rear of the hotel on the second floor. A friendly young guy took our cases up for us. Our room however was tired, a cracked cistern lid on the toilet, walls and door needed a fresh coat of paint, the cushions and bed runner needed replacing. The newish bedroom furniture however looked good quality. It might be an idea to check your room before accepting it, we were only there overnight so not worth it.
All in all, a pleasant place to stay in a central location, just be mindful that some rooms may be better than others and check first. Bakewell itself is a lovely little town and we can recommend The Peacock for evening supper.More
