We stayed at the hotel (room 35) on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which included our 9 year old daughter and Border Terrier dog. The service throughout was excellent from our initial contact via telephone to make the booking (Tracy dealt with us efficiently and was professional and friendly) through to our departure was exceptional - staff were attentive and caring and nothing seemed too much trouble. Both our evening meal in the Gateway Bar and breakfast in the restaurant were excellent - indeed my husband commented on the fact that the breakfast in particular was the best he had had in any hotel and he has stayed in many with work. We would like to thank Tracy for her assistance in booking us in a suitable room, David for his service on reception as well as the service provided by him and his colleagues during our evening meal and Sam and the team during breakfast who were exceptional providing an efficient service during a very busy time in the restaurant. Apologies for not providing further staff names this is due to not all staff wearing name badges. Thank you all for a most enjoyable stay, we look forward to staying with you again in the future.

We visited her with work for a 2 day meeting. The hotel is centrally located with a very small car park over the road. It was full when we arrived, so had to park on a nearby public car park until spaces became available. The rooms were pleasant. They were clean and spacious.
We ate in the restaurant, the food was nice. We thought the staff were a bit grumpy and weren’t very accommodating. I don’t think they liked having specific requests from guests.
When we arrived on day one, we asked for coffee as we’d been driving for a couple of hours. We were told that we were early and the room wasn’t booked until 10.30am. We were only asking for a drink!
Buxton is beautiful and this is a great location, near some great walks, pubs and restaurants

What can we say about this hotel? Well, aside from the wonderful accommodation, location and food, the staff are the most friendly and thoughtful people we have ever encountered. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Loved the hotel, well decorated and clean. Staff helpful and friendly and offering a good service.
Food was excellent.
Minor niggles were lack of storage in the bathroom, a few more drawers and coat hangers in the room for clothes would have been nice and the shower was a little bit asthmatic, but sufficient.
Stayed in the old coachhouse across the road, which was quite adequate with everything we needed.
Despite being close to the A6 roundabout the noise was minimal and did not disturb us.
Overall a superb and enjoyable stay in a nice hotel in a beautiful town in a lovely part of the country.
Would use again if up that way.
