We were driving up to York from Bath and stopped by this picturesque village for lunch. What a visual treat! Clean air and good food. Worth it

Monsal Head is one of the finest view in the Peak Park. The view point looks down on a river valley and a railway viaduct. That doesn't sound inspiring but see it for yourself. If your fit there are many walks in the area.

We visited three times during a fortnights camping trip we loved the town so much. Great place to wander round the shops but the highlight for our boys was feeding the trout with food we bought from the nearby pet shop. Never seen such an abundance of trout in clear crystal water, it was amazing. The old bridge rather than the one with locks on was better. The playground was brilliant fun especially with the water splash zone. Perfect for a hot sunny day, just don’t forget towels / change of clothes for the kids.

We had a very pleasant walk by the river in Bakewell. The birds are clearly well fed - you can get duck food in a shop just around the corner from the old bridge which is much better for them than bread. The river was very clear and there were lots of very large trout close to the bank. Very easy to see them. The day was sunny and we had not a care in the world. What's not to like.

Whether visiting by car, on foot, or by bike; this is a stunning place to walk & admire; especially from the viewpoint at Monsal Head, or from the viaduct on the Monsal Trail.
