Lovely historic shop showing and teaching kids how and what it was like to work in a old shop! Recommended to families and teachers for educational purposes.

Came in several years ago but didn't stay for long and just heard the basics. Came upon it again today and there were two chatty ladies from the Tamar Protection Society anxious to help people make the most of it. I didn't go out back to see the 'parlour' or up to the accommodation but I did spend a while in the shop hearing about how the shop finally just stopped. It isn't a classic NT or V&A style set pice but what draws your interest that this was a real little grocers which probably ran from Victorian times till 15.2.71 - decimalisation.

It was the big event in Saltash, the turning on of the christmas lights. Lots of fun in Fore Street with stalls, childrens lantern parade and all the shops open. I went into Eillotts store and was welcomed with a mulled wine and biscuit. The helpers were very friendly, new a lot about the back ground knowledge and history of the shop. It was a real pleasure to visit such a well preserved treasure. Lots of memorabilia and everyone that visited found this shop fascinating. Both Eillotts store and Mary Newmans Cottage are run by the Tamar Potection Society and need visiters to keep these gems going. Its also an Ideal viewing platform for the furture Celtic Cross.
