Tucked into a small space on Church Road near the center of Malahide is the delightful little Cafe Provence. Four of us stopped in on a return drive from Belfast to Dublin. One of our party ordered mussels. We were amazed at the number ( and he pronounced them the best he had eaten ). A second gentleman had the baked salmon with mashed potato and mixed vegetables which he said were very good. The two women had the Halloumi Salad with rocket, watercress, quinoa, pomegranate, Apple, toasted almonds and lemon yogurt dressing. The Halloumi cheese was baked and a bit crispy on the edges. The ingredients were a great combination producing a marvelous taste. One of us chose a delicious carrot cake for dessert, one chose a caramel iced cake with a vanilla and slight salt filling. Yummy! We chose a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, an Argentinian Malbec and a Pale ale. They were good choices. There is a detailed allergen list on the menu which was very helpful to us as three of us have serious food allergens. We found its scope amazing.

Decided last minute to go out for dinner with family and kids. Always a great spot. So welcoming and friendly. Added bonus of a new menu so some very tasty dishes were had... the new sticky wings are sensational, fajitas are back! This restaurant sure know how to make them sizzle. Whole fish was sublime. Polished off with a stunning Spanish red. Most definitely well worth a visit.

Arrived very early in Dublin with a six hour layover and decided to take the bus into Malahide to stretch our legs and get a bite to eat. Provence was full of locals ( always a good sign) and were served by a lovely lady who reminded me more of my aunt Norah than a waitress. Great home cooking, a bustling spot and lovely people!

Friday midday visit. Place was really busy but we were seated immediately. My husband had full Irish and I had spinach, mushrooms, scrambled eggs and white pudding. Served with toasted soda bread. Really delicious and super quick service. Will definitely visit again.
