We discovered this restaurant while driving along the beautiful Ring of Kerry. We entered this nice cottage with its beautiful thatch roof and had there our lunch with stew and shephard dish. To finish we had coffes and Rhubarb cake, simply wonderful and the price was abt.39 euros for two people. They also have a shop where to buy interesting souvenirs. We'll go back again in the future.

This area has retained the thatched roofs of yesteryear! Open to the public, there are a few little shops and some actual living quarters, demonstrating how the Irish lived long ago!

We arrived here for an early afternoon lunch and the restaurant was empty. Fiona served us her signature dish, the Cottage Pie, and it was fantastic. My husband had a piece of Edmund's fresh rhubarb pie and it was the best he'd ever had! The gift shop is delightful too with some unique items. If you are in the area, we would recommend you make this one of your stops!

Have eaten here on a few different occasions and can never fault the place. Fiona is very welcoming and attentive. Food always fresh with good flavour. Good ambience, reasonable priced and service.

There’s a good chance that your Ring of Kerry sojourn will include a stop at the Thatch Cottage, since this place is about as quaint-looking and photogenic as any eatery you’ll see along the way. Many folks just stop for the photo op, but lots go inside. If a lunch or snack stop here is in your plans, it’s worth bearing in mind that the Thatch Cottage is often filled to capacity, especially when tour busses arrive, and there can be a significant wait to order food or find a place to sit. You’ll also find the food and drink rather pricey (about 12 euros for Irish stew or a smoked salmon salad). You can’t blame them for charging what the market will bear, and the food is quite tasty. I can enthusiastically recommend the rhubarb pie (4 euros) and I regret that I didn’t order Irish coffee (5.9 euros) to wash it down.
