Review of McGills

McGills
Ranked #5 of 17 Restaurants in Enniskerry
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$6 - US$30
Cuisines: Irish
Description: This Irish pub is more than a name or an address: it embodies a spirit of friendly congeniality, a culture of conversation and story. McGill's manifests this magnificently, full of interesting artefacts and memorabilia, with a wonderful bar, made for elbows. As well as a fine selection of whiskeys, beers and stouts, McGill's offers a tasty menu of wholesome, traditional dishes, prepared and served with imagination and style.

We were lucky to be there when Ireland vs France for the rugby championship game. Ireland won and place went crazy. Even though you are in a huge resort, pub gives you the feel that you in a true pub on Main Street.

Very little choice for coeliacs. Food very over priced for average pub grub. Lacks atmosphere. Small venue and dark. Very out of place in comparison to the rest of the hotel.

This bar is very out of place from the rest of the hotel not in keeping at all. The cocktails were very poorly presented for €13 a cocktail I don’t expect it to be served in a regular glass you would be served Coca Cola in. Very much aimed at the international older guests.

This pub doesn't really fit in with the hotel but it is styled to be a typical Irish country pub. It reminds me of a movie called Darby o gill and the little people I've no idea if it's designed with that movie in mind but i did enjoy being there.
The reason I had to give one less star is because the cocktails were the worst I've ever tasted. That sounds harsh but it was truly awful. If you're going just stick to wine, beer or spirits. Give the cocktails a miss!
Friendly staff though! It did take 25 minutes for two drinks to be made though but we were relaxed and chatting so we didn't mind.

Drinks are plentiful; food is amazing, staff is great! The atmosphere is perfect for a hotel like the Powerscourt. Authentic Irish Pub.
