Unlike most of the other farmstays in and around Perth, this one is an actual working farm (well, maybe more of a ranch really as they breed show horses) and there's only this one character cottage for 1 family of guests at one time. Just imagine.....a real working farm all to ourselves that we don't need to share with other guests where we can hand-feed all the animals on the farm anytime we want and however many times we like! Is it any wonder the kids were angry at us for not staying longer?!!
It's only less than 20 minutes drive from the airport and the city is the same distance. Located right smack in Swan Valley itself, there're plenty of activities and food options around the farm. Mobile and data reception was excellent throughout our stay.
Ron, Corinne and their daughters were extremely welcoming people. Corinne especially came off as a really warm and genuine person. Every member of our family loves her to no end!
Thank you so so much for making our stay the absolute highlight of our 10 day vacation!

WOW, what more can I say!! We are very humbled to know that you enjoyed every aspect of your stay at our wonderful piece of paradise and that you experienced what we experience everyday here. It truely is god's own country. We are so very pleased that Settlers Rest Farmstay was the highlight of your stay in WA, and can't wait to see you all again. I'll particularly say hi to the animals and give them an extra carrot or two for you.

We visited Perth's Swan valley in April 2017 and had the absolute pleasure of staying at this wonderful cottage. It was an incredible and unforgettable experience for us all.
The cottage itself was clean and comfortable with every facility we required available for our use. The kitchen was fully equipped and even a selection of toys and books were providing for the children to enjoy. The farm animals are all friendly with loving characters and the farm owners and their family made us feel very welcomed. I wouldn't hesitate in booking to stay here again and would fully recommend it

We were delighted to have you and your children stay with us for five nights in April, it was an absolute pleasure to see the children interact with the animals on a day to day basis and to see them really enjoy the horses, in particular for Heather, who cut up carrots for them every night!! And Jemima for Alfie!! Jemina followed him everywhere!!! What a wonderful friendly goat she is!! We hope to see you all again one day soon, take care x

This quaint country cottage is neat and clean. An eye opening experience for our city dweller kids and yet feeling comfortable during the while stay. It has 3 bedrooms to fit 7 adults. However, there is only one bathroom. Owners went the extra mile to have kids stuff from baby baby tub to kids bed rail in case you needed them. You can find an introduction book on this cottage, the farm, animals and where to dine nearby in the dining room which we found very useful. This is a working farm. Although the owners are staying just next door, you are mostly on your own except during first meet up and daily animal feeding time which is around 4.30pm. The kids had fun feeding the animals and look forward to their tractor ride with the owner's daughter. Will definitely recommend this place to any family with young kids traveling to Perth.

We are thrilled we could give yourselves and your children an experience very different to city life. You are welcome to walk amongst the animals at your leisure, hand feed them whenever you wish with cut up carrots or apples or join us around 4.30 pm when we do the feeding run. We allow our guests privacy to enjoy the serenity of the county ambience with animals and nature at their back door, amazing clear skies , clean fresh county air , views to die for. The farm is free and easy and yours to enjoy.

I am loath to write this review as I don't want too many people knowing how great this place is in case we can't book next time we want to go!

We have stayed at Settler's Rest twice now and we absolutely love it. From the tranquility of the surroundings, the cosy and super clean cottage, the friendliness and patience of the fantastic Corrine and Ron and the array of animals; I just don't think you would find a better place to spend a few days.

As a family of four with two young animal-loving boys, it was a total pleasure to feel that we were a part of the team and never at any point (despite the boys literally following Corrine and Ron everywhere) feel that we were in the way. We loved helping out with the afternoon feeds, as well as taking carrots and apples to every animal on the farm each morning! And to add to the complete magic of our stay, a baby foal was born and we got to see it's first teetering steps, bonding with its Mother and being checked over by the vet. I can't explain how perfect a stay this was and how relaxed we all felt throughout and on departure.

I cannot recommend this place enough - please just don't book it in a Singapore school holiday as you might get in before us!

It was such a pleasure seeing you all again, and wow have the boys grown in the last 18 months! Can't believe they knew all the animals by name and had been constantly talking about them since their last trip! We are thrilled you all felt so relaxed and "at home" at our farm and that the cottage provided all the amenities and comfort for you all to enjoy the ambience of such a special place we have here at Settlers Rest. We certainly missed you when you left, particularly the infectious energy and enthusiasm of your gorgeous boys. See you next time!!

Good farmstay experience especially for the kids offering animal interactions including chickens, sheeps, goats and horses. There was also daily farm tour by the owners. Fairly large living space in an antique Australian cottage with well maintained equipment. The beds also came with bed warmers which were very useful in the cold nights and mornings. Owners were friendly and professional but could be more helpful. Stay could be improved by providing daily necessities and animal feeds for children to feed.

We are pleased you enjoyed the tranquillity of our lovely farm and the animals. We are very appreciative of any feedback we receive, particularly if we are able to improve in any way. We are not sure of when you stayed so that we can relate to your family. If you could mention what daily necessities you feel would improve your stay, that would be helpful. Regarding the animal feeding, we feed every day around 4.30 p.m. which any guest is welcome to join us, but at any time of the day guests can feed the animals with their own cut up apples, carrots or left over scraps. The farm is very free and easy and we do let guests have their privacy, if they wish to join us we make them very welcome.
