The more steps there are the more hated the Emperor. Suffice to say there are a lot of steps so come to your own conclusions.

You have to be able to walk up a lot of steps for this one and I suggest you get there first thing. Once the coaches arrive there is no room to do anything. This, the tomb of Ming Mang and the Citadel appear to be a popular day trip and the 280,000 VND ticket for all three is worth it.

This appears to be the first stop for the coaches though so I would get here first and leave before the coaches get here.

It is not a large complex but it is high. Well worth a visit as it is pretty stunning. Check out the Lady Buddah across the valley on the hillside in white when you get to the top level.

I was quite blown away with the mix in European and Chinese influence on the architecture of the tomb - it's one of a kind.

The tomb hall was rich in detail and was so beautiful to look at.

I think this is a must see out of the few tombs around.

Rented a scooter and drove out to this tomb, mostly on a hunch. Very impressive site with a lot of buildings, status and stairs. You should be prepared to work your calves as you will encounter a couple of very steep stairs to reach first "platform" of the monument. Entrance of 100k is reasonable for the site and the tomb itself with its inside decor is amazing. Note the 9 dragons painted with water colors in the ceiling.

I could have spent longer at this huge Tomb. It was well worth seeing and understanding the history and trials of imperial Vietnam.
