On of the "must see's" while visiting Hue. I did a bicycle tour with my two other companions across all major Royal Tombs in Hue! Highly recommended!

You can hire a taxi to take you out of the city to this tomb in the beautiful countryside and wait for you to return. It is much cheaper than taking an organized tour of several tombs. You only need to spend a half hour to see this tomb. There are a large number of steps that bring you up to several levels. If you take your time, it is not too difficult. There are statues of warriors, elephants on some of the lower levels. The tomb, on the highest level is impressive.

This tomb was very different to the others we saw. Much smaller grounds without the gardens and lakes we loved so much at Minh Mang and Tu Duc tombs. It is located on a hillside with lots of steps so would recommend you wear trainer type shoes. The outside is covered in some sort of black stone which gives the tomb an almost scary gothic look. There are interesting stone mandarin statues in the 1st courtyard which guard the tomb. Then it is up further steps to reach the top where the temple/tomb is located. Inside the tomb, contrasting with the blackened exterior, are colourful pictures and a gold coloured statue of the emperor. From this height you have a great view down all the staircases and the surrounding countryside. We enjoyed our visit and would recommend if only as a contrast to the other tombs.

The best part of this place is the art pieces inside the main buildings. It has the combination colors of Western and Eastern architecture, from its foreign material to traditional workcrafts.

We have been yesterday in this place. This tomb of the emperor is the farthest and most beautiful. Small, decorated with mosaic and inside there is a gilded royal box. The tomb is guarded by a small army of people, horses and elephants. Go from town to her 20 minutes by taxi.
