This hotel is located in an unspoilt paradise. All rooms have direct ocean views and were modern and clean. The management and staff were very accomodating and friendly. The breakfast was enjoyable and adequate. If you enjoy peace and quiet, this is the hotel for you. It is situated on a dead end street with only a few resorts in the vicinity. The main township is only 6 kilometres away requiring a short tuk tuk ride. We would recommend this hotel.

I loved my room and the quiet the beach offered until I had to take a shower. The water pressure was just not good enough. I washed off the shampoo with the hand shower next to the WC. On the bright side, they served a good breakfast.

Lovely place with great, clean and spacious rooms straight on the beach.
The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.
It's a very quiet location but other amenities are close by, restaurants, bars etc.
Visit now before the developers arrive!

Beg bugs, dirty bedsheets, only cold water in the shower, rooms not clean. Alcohol prohibited in the whole hotel. We moved out after one night although we had booked three. The only plus is the panorama windows in the rooms with ocean view.

The rooms are large and modern with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beach and ocean with a small but refreshing balcony. The bed was comfortable however a mosquito net should be provided. The staff is friendly and helpful but is in dire need of oversight and proper training in customer service, work ethics (the elderly gentleman works tirelessly) and business decorum. There is a large well equipped kitchen on site but lunch and dinner service is not available. Breakfast is served, best when brought from the young woman staffer who makes a delicious pol rotti and curry and diners do need to request their table is moved out of the blinding morning sun. (A roll down screen would help immensely) Guests must walk next door or around the bay for other meals. The staff will accommodate your wishes for breakfast if you discuss your preferences with them the night before as is common in smaller guesthouses in Sri Lanka. In addition, guest do expect to be able to request a pot of tea or coffee throughout the day, therefore, a hot water pot with instant coffee and tea bags with mugs would be a great convenience to the guests.

You will likely have miles of the beach and ocean all to yourselves or maybe share it with a fisherman or two. There is a herd of cattle which roams all over town, the beaches and neighborhoods but they were not present during the day on the beach and their droppings were present much south of the swimming area. Even during January we were able to swim each day in the fabulously warm water and body surf in the waves. Swimming around the other side of the bay on the Passekudah side is much less desirable with muddy water, the rivers drain into this side of the bay, and no surf to enjoy. One might imagine snorkeling would be possible on this side of the bay without surf but in January the water is too shallow and too murky.
All that being said, Aquamarine has much potential which could be realized with consistent care and attention.
