Last week my partner and I were supposed to be in this accommodation for 3 nights, but we have stayed only 2 nights, as a lot of problems were happening during our stay..
We were the only guests during these 2 nights, nobody was there and we thought it a bit weird, as all the other places were fully booked. But after some hours we started to understand why this place is always empty.
First of all, they obligated us to pay 1000 rupees more to have air conditioner, but when we talked on the phone to book they said that the AC was included in the rate.. but when we arrived there, the manager who received us said it wasn't. The room was so BOILING HOT that we were obligated in pay this extra.
The free use of bikes that they also said by phone we can have during our stay was one more of their lies..
Regrettably, during all of our stay we had to deal with a manager so rude, that we really can't understand how is possible a place has someone like him working there...unbelievable. The other member of the staff is a man very friendly but he doesn't speak english at all, so we couldn't communicate with him
In our second night I found a big rat in our bathroom, I was in shock, it was already 11pm but we have decided to call to the manager to take the rat out.. he was already sleeping and he didn't do anything, he just gave to us a spray to kill it..in this moment we have decided to don't stay there for the 3rd night. The next morning during the check-out, the manager tried to add some more additional charges in our bill but of course we refused to pay. He has pissed out when we decided to call to the office of the hotel complaining for all that happened, and he started to treat us worse than ever. The reason why I'm rating poor instead of terrible is due to the fantastic beach where this place is, kalkudah beach, and the cabana / room where we stayed is lovely but it's really a shame to a place like this being managed so bad...

Cocoville Hotel is located directly on the sandy white beach of Kalkuhda Bay. There are 3 cabins which offer a secluded, private escape from the more popular Passikuda beach (20-30min walk away).

Our cabin was clean and well equipped with a large bathroom, A/C and a big comfy bed! The porch looks right out onto beach and provides the perfect place to relax.

The food here is also top notch, with a breakfast of eggs, toast and fruit. Lunch & dinner are supplied upon request, both are excellent...the bbq fish for dinner was delicious.

Great place, lonely beach, absolutely tranquil, lovely food.
The bungalows are very spacious and well fitted to make your stay very relaxing and the staff are very attentive. The chef runs the place and also cooks delicious Sri Lankan dishes. Overall, it's an amazing place we recommend to stay. There were just 2 things which irritated us during our stay, the wifi worked only during 'office hours' and some additional charges had to be sorted out when we checked out.
