To start off Sandy and her mom, Christiane, and dad, Antoin, are the greatest people, and they run these 6(?) bungalows by themselves. Sandy and Christiane are amazing cooks so get ready to eat like king or queen. And huge portions! Forget about your diet! Sandy and Christiane are wonderfully knowledgeable about all the activities available on Grande Terre and Isle des Pins and probably the outer islands too, although they weren't part of my itinerary.
I arrived late on my scheduled arrival day after getting lost on my way from the airport at least 7 or 8 times. (Don't try this trip in the dark if you are unfamiliar with the area. It is a nightmare. Arrive in the daytime if at all possible). I finally find the place at 10:30 pm and there are Sandy and Christiane waiting up for me with a lovely Rhone wine and an offer to cook me a meal if I was hungry. I was too jet-lagged and stressed to be hungry but the glass of wine sure was helpful. (The second glass was, too!) They showed me to my delightful little bungalow on the hill with air-conditioning and free wi-fi. Lovely tropical setting with some fine old trees and lots of green and many colorful flowers. Just yards away from the ocean.
My personal story begins with coming down with a terrible case of sciatica on my 3rd day there. I mean I could not walk. I was planning to do some rugged hiking, studying the amazing trees of New Caledonia, and here I was, unable to walk on day 3! I was devastated and started to look at arrangements to return home immediately to be treated. Sandy picked me up at my bungalow in her car to bring me down to each meal. Antoine fashioned me a cane so I could get around a little. Christiane took me to the small doctor's office in Plum while Antoin waited for me in the parking lot for an hour and a half. The young doctor there gave me some medication called Voltairine and it was like magic! By the evening of the next day I was walking again and was able to finish my 21-day stay in New Caledonia and do all the excursions into the brush that I had planned! Sandy and her family had saved my trip! I will never forget their kindness and how they looked after me, way above and beyond anything one could possibly expect. I am forever in their debt and give Les Cases de Plum the highest possible rating. If you are looking for family on the road, this is the place.

Room tip: I had a one of bungalows up the hill and it was great, but everything looked pretty equal. Lower units closer to pool and meal tables.

With limited choices for tourists, this is a little gem. Sandy, our host is very welcoming and tries her best to provide what you need. She speaks little English but we worked well using translators on Google!!! When booking, we thought we had our own private kitchen, but on arrival this was not the case. Luckily no one else had booked the kitchen bungalow and Sandy offered a free upgrade which was much appreciated. Bring your own toiletries to including soap, shampoo, tissues (none provided) and toilet paper (one roll provided) as very little was provided. We live fed our time here and very much enjoyed the beauty of the ga den surrounding undos here.

These little wooden cabins are set back from the road in a leafy garden. The one we stayed in was furnished with a stately carved wood four-poster bed, quaint table and chairs made from reclaimed timber on the deck, bathroom furniture made from driftwood and a pebbled shower. It also had a small kitchen with hand-made cupboards. It was really delightful. Sandy, the host, was very welcoming and helpful. She will prepare meals for you, but we cooked in the cabin. Sandy and her mother also helped us by ringing ahead to book accommodation for us the next night.
