This place is located within the medieval walls of Candelo and is very well reserved by the family owning the place. The quality of food varied a lot - the starters and desserts were delicous, the first course was quite poor and the main course mediocre.

The weak point was really the service - or the lack of it. The owner was every time offended when we tried to make an order or ask a question. This attitude was consistent all the way from making the reservation to paying the bill. We had the recommended four course menu which took us more than three hours which was so slow that it was almost embarrassing.

If you have kids and you want to have a dinner in Candelo, choose Trattoria D'Oria. It beats this snobbish place both hands down!

Inside the medieval village of Recetto di Candelo there is this fascinating reastaurant, made of stone and built around an ancient winepress. It's really a suggestive location, ideal for any occasion, from romantic dinner to friend's brunch or family lunch.
The staff is very professional and very kind. The handshake of the owners at the end of the meal was really a pleasant thing. Just like the charcuterie plate offered to apologize for the delay of the main course (delay even perceived).
Our main course (a plate of wine and cheese rice served on a parmesan cheese basket) was one of the best rice plate we have ever eaten. The same thing was for the charcuterie plate.
Regarding dessert, the menù is really inviting. The meringue basket with berries was amazing (very good taste and great presentation). Not so however for smooth strawberries, which were few and presented in a way too simple for a restaurant so attentive to detail. This however is the only slightly positive note, about a restaurant that deserves to be tried.
The wine list is adequate for a restaurant which focuses mainly on tourists.
Excellent value for money.

Chef-owner Alberto has had the no small luck of having had this beautifully restored medieval building in his family for over 200 years, but he definitely did not sit on his laurels.
The menu is of the style you would expect in this corner of Piedmont, and likewise the wine list, but what you may not expect is that this is no movie prop: it is a really a top quality, superb restaurant that can stand on a high pedestal even before considering that it dominates the valley from the center of a wonderfully preserved walled burgh, very near Biella.
Bravo Alberto!
Not to be missed if you are in the general area, but do expect to need some time for your service, as it does get busy. Lunch only on Sundays.

Get the meal of the day!!! You will not be disappointed. My husband and I include a stop here in our travel planning when ever we visit Italy. Often driving many hours, spending the night in Candelo just to have dinner here. Tell me how many places inspire you to do that! Don't forget to order a bottle of wine!!!
AND, one of the most unique places to dine. Lots of incredible history surrounding you.
