Very quiet hotel in a very quiet part of Thailand. Rooms facing the Mekong have amazing views looking out over Laos. Price was good, the bed was very comfortable and the food in the restaurant excellent. Had a very peaceful 2 night stay.

Room Tip: River view rooms have magic views.

Of all the hotels in that i lived in, I have only positives memories of Kong Kham Koon. For several years, stayed and lived one or more days. The view over the Mekong river is very relaxing, the staff, the rooms and the food is good. Market every Monday outside the hotel, do not miss it. Nowdays, i do not stay here, my wife has repaired her house so i have to stay there. Damn it.

We did only stop here and had something to drink at the coffee bar an evening with a beautiful sunset over Mekong River. The hotel is perfect for romantic getaway. The staff was very welcoming, polite and service minded. The prices was very nice. The manager was also very welcoming as she took us on a "sightseing" in the hotel and showed the rooms and other facilities. This is a place where I will visit and stay on my next trip to Pak Khat for sure.

Room Tip: Get a VIP room with balcony and enjoy the stunning sunsets in private.

The hotel is located in a small town called Pak Khat which is in Bueng Kan Province in the North East of Thailand, locals refer to this area as "Essan".

Kong Kham Koon hotel is right on the river bank and offers river view rooms for around 700/800 Baht which seemed very reasonable for the location. There are other rooms without views which start at 400 baht but I would recommend the river view room, it included free wifi, complimentary water, cable TV, Air Con, Mini Bar, hot shower and a private balcony.

The Owner "Miss Pookie" was a wonderful host, most staff have limited English but the owner is always on hand to assist with anything. The hotel has a river view restaurant and river view coffee shop, the restaurant menu is predominantly Thai food but written in both english and thai. The prices for alcohol and thai food are very reasonable. The new coffee shop is air conditioned giving a nice break from the mid-day heat. The hotel has a small swimming pool looking out to boardering Laos.

Pak Khat town doesnt have taxi's only a few Tuk Tuk's so getting around will either require a motorbike rental from Pak Khat or car rental from Udon Thani (Main Airport) or Nong Khai (Main Train Station). The town is very small and has limited attractions so for those that want to explore arranging transport is a must, others that want to unwind to beautiful scenery and laze around the pool its a good choice but bare in mind this is rural Thailand and not a commerical toursit hub so the service is aimed more at Thai's than at Westerners.

Overall lovely small town and nice affordable hotel.

Room Tip: Zimmer mit Flußblick wählen, kostet zwar 800 Baht im Gegensatz zu den Pool Bungalows, aber der ausblick lohnt allemal.
