Called in adhoc after a family day out the pub was clean staff friendly but the steak pie was inedible my first mouthful was so tough and hard it lodged in my throat resulting in a stay at derby royal and an operation to dislodge! The meal was refunded tho and the the other meals were ok my advise us avoid the pie!!!
Never again!

Visited here as was around the corner from where we were staying. Was decorated lovely inside, unfortunately as it was so busy when we got there we could only eat in the bar area and not the restaurant but this was fine there was more than enough room and the kids got to play on the pool table. However what I would say is the bar menu while it had a good selection its not a huge amount and one of my family members was limited as to what she could have. When the meals arrived the food was really nice, the only thing the kids didn't enjoy was the mac & cheese which was alittle bland and the garlic bread which seemed to have balsamic vinegar on it. However everything else was eaten and enjoyed. Will definitely visit again if we're in that area again.

We stayed here for the night whilst attending a wedding as it was the sister hotel to the hurt Arms in Ambergate.

Pros

Plenty of on-site parking and outdoor seating
Bar area served a full array of beers wines and select local ales and lagers
Rooms were top notch and immaculately cleaned.
Air con was a dream also.
Beds were so comfy
Tea and coffee facilities in room.
Staff couldn’t do enough for you.
Breakfast best I’ve ever had in a hotel, unreal.

Cons

That we only stayed one night.

Could not find a fault with this place and would stay again just for the breakfast in the morning .

First meal out since the lifting of restrictions. Portions smaller. Although certain parts of the meal were fine, others were not. The special, Chicken and Mushroom pie, the pastry was hard and inedible. The waffle was very hard. It seemed much more expensive than our last visit, but that may have been because of the smaller portion sizes. Having said that it was still pleasant.

We stayed at this pub/accommodation for a visit to the peak district. It is a good location for visits to Matlock, Bakewell, Chatsworth and Buxton. The bedrooms are very nice, large, clean, air con and comfortable bed. The full English breakfast is lovely. We ate in the restaurant on 3 occasions and all meals were good especially the Sunday roast. Enjoyable stay and we will return. Thanks.
