Excellent pub in a great location of St Julian just off Sliema so great for a nice walk too.

The service for food was great and many of the staff seemed to be friendly with one particular male member having a chip on his shoulder with a customer who looked lacking in confidence and asked for choices of dark beverages than Guinness for a sarky answer of coke.

Food portions even light bites are plentiful and tasty.

Beers as expected with plenty of choice but was disappointed as hoegarden was on tap but not stocked for the fortnight I was there but that’s personal disappointment.

Overall highly recommend to anyone who wishes to stop for refreshments.

People should view the menu and take in what’s on their and not complain as something they want isn’t on there. Your wants and needs are solely your issues and not that of an establishment that has clearly indicated its choices on the menu from the onset.

We found the Dubliner on our first day in St Julians, delighted of course as we're both Dubs and love a good Irish pub. We were both very disappointed. We did eat here twice, lunches, and the food was good; nothing special but a good lunch - I had the burger the first day, my boyfriend had ribs and both were tasty.

The second time we ate here I had curry chips, I had also asked if there was a chance I could get a portion of rice (there are rice dishes on the menu and I've never come across a place where this is an issue) and a nice new start took my order no problem but asked another member of staff for help when the option obviously wasn't appearing on the till who just said 'no' and shook his head, that was it.

This is one of the major issues we had with the Dubliner, the staff were just so unfriendly which is absolutely the opposite of a normal Irish pub, given that all the staff were actually Irish too we were surprised by the unfriendly nature of the place. It was such a shame because the building is actually gorgeous, the balcony on the second floor really stands out on the bay and looks so inviting. It also seemed to close quite early, we were only there late one night, I think it was only around 12, and again the staff were so unpleasant, there were two big groups in the bar as well as us and the staff simply said 'Right, out, get a move on,' we decided it wasn't worth returning so I don't know if it usually closes early? Anyway we headed on up to Cork's Pub up toward Paceville which quickly became our favourite; staff were lovely and friendly, great service, great value and stayed open late!

We walked down here for dinner and went up the spiral staircase to avoid the crowds, or so we thought. Once up there, a number of groups had sort of spread out, accosting each new table as it became available.

We snagged a spot for the 4 of us. We ordered a variety of meals for dinner. None of which stood out as excellent but they were acceptable. The beer was cold and the service prompt. It seemed the staff was a bit overwhelmed and under impressed with the group I'm referring to.

Conversations at other tables were loud which meant it was difficult to speak quietly amongst ourselves. There are a number of Dubliner restaurants we have seen in our travels and perhaps it is a chain like Hard Rock or Planet Hollywood. Each one is slightly different and they meet an expectation.

We all decided it wasn't the best choice for our second dinner in Malta and we should have gone somewhere else.
