The Parador of Caceres is very dark and gloomy so we escaped into the sunlight and went for a walk around the old city. Not far away is the bar/restaurant Puertas de Merida and attracted by the misting sprays they have installed under the sunshade, we ordered some beers and some Jamon de bellota. It was so good that we then ordered another plate. It was so good that we decided to forego dinner at the parador and went back and had another platefull, before ordering our two raciones each (now 12€) My duck salad was very good, but my husband's carpaccio had,we felt, too much oil on it.My quail was good as was his lasagne, although the tomato sauce was a bit sweet. The bread is delicious as is the local red wine.Good food and good value.
