The aged look of the hotel and the lack of parking was made up by the wonderful food served at this hotel, set in the town centre of the "VW" town of Baunatal. Hotel is a little old and well worn, but the rooms are very nice. Major part of the building could do with a make over. So could the small car parking area. The staff were very pleasant and most helpful in all respects,
Regretable the disabled facilities are a little backwards, the ramp for example up to the lift is at a to great an angle to use even for trolly bags. There is a smoking room by the main doors but most people use the area right outside the main doors and this means the users of the hotel have to fight their way through a thick cloud of smoke, for me it ment an attack of coughing for about 30 mins. and inflamed lungs. needing treatment with puffers. I did like the small but down to earth restaurant and the food was not costly and was excellent.

It was my 3rd stay at the Baunatal Ambassador and I never experienced any mayor problems.During my last stay in November 2011 I had to use my Hotel room telephone just to let my family know that everything was OK. When I paid my bill I was surprised that I have been charged for a 3 minute call to South Africa with 32 Euro ( 80 units x .40 cents ). This I really find disturbing and a ripp off, because normally phone calls from Germany to overseas are very cheap. I expected maybe to pay between 3 -5 euros, but never 32,- Euros. When queried at the reception, I was told that they will check it out, but could not get back to me with a plausible explenation ( e.g. what the tariffs are ). As a loyal and good customer I paid, but still find this charge day light robbery. The Hotel room advisor, which I checked before making the call does not clearly indicate the charges. Only .40 cents for local calls are mentioned. No indication for overseas calls. Should maybe written a little clearer in the Hotel room advisory. Sorry, but I'm really dissappointed, because this call costed me a solid daily travel allowance. I have learned my lesson, not to use any room services e.g. telephone

Room Tip: don't use telephones in your room.
