Small boutique hotel with less than 10 rooms. Fantastic view of a green rice field right at your doorstep. Actually, to reach the room/Villa, you need to walk about 50 meters on a concrete pathway with a rice field on the left and right hand sides.

Excellent service and advice for the attractions around Yogyakarta. Good breakfast as well by attentioned staff.

Would definitely go there again, either as family or as a couple.

For me it was a most welcome return to Alamandas. Many people before me wrote the same, that's why I keep my review short: There is just no better stay in Yogya! You live in five star comfort in a ricefield and still not far from the city center. And the best of all: You're welcomed in a family just like in a homestay. This combination is unique. Thanks to Frans and his fabulous team. I'll be back soon.

Room Tip: Get one of the cottages in the ricefield if still available

A great place to stay in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Easy access to airport and entire Yogyakarta town area. Away from the buzy & crowded town. Great place for a solo traveler or group or even family. Friendly, humble & very helpful people running this unique villa(s). Amenities provided as good as 5-star hotel, surprisingly with affordable room/villa package with breakfast! Even air-port pick up etc. All you needed is there, provided, including green paddy fields. The establishment also provide affordable tour packages with transport & great guide. Ask for Mr Hartono or fondly called Tono. A marvelous place to stay, surrounded by great people & view. Surprisingly, not a single mosquito spotted. A place I would glad to call my ‘Yogyakarta 5-star home’. Will definitely be back soon. Thanks for the warmth & great experiences Frans, Tono & everyone from Alamanda Villa Yogyakarta

Stayed here for a couple of days. There were some issues, but we enjoyed our stay.

It is a unique experience to be staying in the middle of rice fields. The villas are clean with comfortable beds. The air conditioning is just barely acceptable as the buildings are not well insulated.

The bathrooms are not air conditioned and have big rectangular openings without screening. At night they can be very buggy expecially the unit we had near the pool - the pool lights seemed to attract extra bugs. I am not sure why there is no screening installed... Our first night was a bit of a shock to the girls who freaked out at all of the insects in the bathroom.

Later on in the night we lost power and the rooms became rather hot. At dawn, I walked up to the main house and reported that we had no power. Seems the power is pre-paid and the deposit ran out on our villa! They called the power company and entered a code into the meter... power was restored.

It rained that afternoon and the roof leaked a little. We went to dinner and returned to find the room hazed up and it smelled strongly of electrical burning. Apparently some water leaked into the voltage converter under the Tv. The unit was so hot they had to pick it up with towels to not get burnt. I was moved to another villa that night while the caustic smoke smell cleared out.

Speaking of towels... the towels were super old and dry rotted. When drying off you got covered with rotten towel dust. If you shook a towel it looked like it was snowing. These need to be thrown out and replaced.

Except for the two incidents.. the bugs... and the dry rotted towels, the place did have some very good qualities—- free laundry (simply amazing and appreciated) , the breakfast was very good, everything in the fridge was free except beer, and for about $50usd a day you could have a driver and van take you wherever you wanted. There is also free airport pick up, and our driver was there upon our arrival clearly holding up a sign (which was not the case with our drivers in Bali).

I do not recommend their restaurant down the street. It was seriously buggy. The light over the tables attracted thousands of little insects. We unscrewed the bulb above our end of a long table and still had them fly into our food. The end of the table still lit had scores of bugs crawling all over the table linen. The food was “so so”. I will say the chicken soup was fantastic though.

We ate at a restaurant they recommended which specializes in mushroom dishes. It was great, and I would recommend eating there at least once.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
