I just returned from El Cid -- travelled with my husband and 3 girls, 12 and 10-yr old twins. We had a REALLY lovely time and would recommend this resort to anyone looking for an all-inclusive resort that is intimate, clean, well-staffed and convenient.

TOP TAKE-AWAYS
1) Pool was fun for all. Cliff diving and slides provided kids with hours of fun.
2) UPGRADE. We stepped up our accomodations and could not have been more pleased with the 2 bedroom suite, oceanfront.
3) Excellent service. I don't know if it is the Mexican people or the training of this particular staff but everyone from bus boys to bar tenders were polite, hard-working, eager to please and pleasant.
4) Beach. If you are looking for a breathtaking, spectacular beach you may be disappointed. This beach is small, a little rocky but well-appointed with lounges, beds and shade.
5) Food. Our expectations are never very high in all-inclusive situations. However, it was plentiful and varied. Good, not great. No one went hungry.
6) Convenient. Very quick ride to the airport. Also, once you are at the resort, everything is very close. No long walks back to your room for forgotten items. This is key when the weather is HOT.
7) Clean. The crews work hard to tidy everything up. No trash. Well-manicured grounds. Rooms were pretty clean.

Not sure if we would be going back (so many other great places to visit) but the El Cid gave us many reasons to return to Mexico. Felt much warmer, friendlier and safer than some other carribean locations we've visited.

I would highly reccomend Hotel Marina El Cid for anyones wedding. Mine was perfect! The wedding coordinator Eva was AWESOME! The resort was very nice too. The returaunts were all good and the drinks were very tasty!! It is a family resort but my group of 30 never had any problems with children being loud or running around not supervised. Please email me if you have any quick questions. The bar tenders were very fast and they would come up to you all the time wondering if you would like another drink. The photographers would walk around thru the whole resort and take pictures you could buy, or like me you can hire them to take pictures at your wedding. And a few days later we did a trash the dress session with Alex at Positive Photos who did the best job ever. He ended up taking about 300 pictures and they were all out of this world. They were better than the local company I hired to do a photo session....

This hotel was great for our first family vacation out of the coutnry with my husband and 8-month old daughter. We enjoyed all of it - the room, the hotel, the food, the restaurants, the drinks, the beach, and best of all - THE POOL!!
Al Cazar was by far the best restaurant, but we very much enjoyed Al Hambra and the Marina as well. The service was these restaurants was excellent.
We booked Platinum, and we had no problem getting reservations, or anything other requests fulfilled.
We definitely recommend this hotel.
Thanks El Cid for a wonderful vacation!!

We were at the hotel with our two daughters agest 4 and 7 from July 24th to July 31st. This was our first all inclusive vacation, and we loved it!!!! Before we went, we read alot of the previous comments posted on this site, but we definately DISAGREE with the negative ones.
This is definately a family resort and if you have kids...this is the place to be. The resort is not to small and not too big....so your kids are always close.

First of all, the time share people asked us one time if we were interested in a tour, and we said NO and never heard from them again. Our reservation couldn't have been more smooth. We got the most perfect room...which was exactly what we asked for previously....which we have OSWALDO to thank. We called him on the phone with concerns about the bird buildings and had an ocean room with NO issues in building 15. The front desk was wondeful. We delt with KENNETH and DIEGO who were both wonderful. It was our 7 year old daughters birthday, and she recieved a rose and beautiful cake on her Birthday. Our 4 year old daughter as well had a great time. They both loved the kids club and we couldn't keep them away from it! The girls at the Kids Club (Jimena, Paulina, Maria, and Liz) were AWESOME!!!! Thank you so much for keeping up with our two energetic kids and keeping them entertained. The service and staff throughout the hotel was good. The waiters at the pool, especially OSCAR and MANUEL were great. Although, tips were included we decided on our own to always give a little something at the end of the day and it does make a difference. They are very thankful for the tips and do pay that extra attention to your needs. The beach was well kept and beautiful. We DO recommend the water shoes, because there are rocks once you get into the ocean. Otherwise, the beach and sand are perfect! The food for our family was great. We saw previous comments about the food, which we really didn't agree with. There was a ton of options and we never got bored with the food. We had no issues making our reservations for the restaurants. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this resort to all families looking for a relaxing and wonderful vacation. We did go one day into Puerto Morelos, which is five minutes from the resort. We went to PELICANOS restaurant, which was awesome seafood for a GREAT price.

Our children & families (8 adult & 7 children) met here at various times through out Sat. Check-in was somewhat of a hassle for all. Seemed disorganized. Had 4 rooms reserved. One of our son-in-laws couldn't fly in until late Wed (9pm), but they insisted on charging him full price ($93 all-inclusive) for Wed & their son, who is 7 y/o was charged all (passport in hand) also. Website clearly states 7 & under are free. Staff unwilling to listen.
Very clean & spacious rooms & grounds. King size bed mattress super hard , causing lots of back & hip aches. Requested softer mattress cover & staff complied same day. Mattress was better, but not so comfortable. Super friendly staff other than front desk. Pool wonderful, although worried about safety of cliff jumping. Lifeguards behind & can't watch adequately. Kids club very good.
Food was a total disappointment. 6 of us had stomach cramps & diahrrea for several days. Quality of food definitely below standard. Saw staff bringing food daily from main buffet to pool buffet uncovered. No pool side food available other than covering & shoes to go inside restaraunt for lunch. Room service good, but takes a while.
Checking out was difficult also. Upon admission spoke with staff about our late departure & storage of our luggage. Had arranged to store luggage & change clothes for airport in complimentary spa room. When checking out, was told we would have to change in the bathroom. Very rude staff member checking out.
Great resort for young kids, just worrisome about the food. Enjoyed pool most of all.
