The staff is the best! It was my son’s birthday and they helped me to surprise him with a cake, all this was planned with the help and leadership of Eduardo (waiter in the French and Mercado restaurant)

The staff here is beyond amazing and so friendly you actually feel like you belong here. The restaurant reservation system could use a little updating but the food in the restaurants is very good night after night.

Resort is clean and landscaping is beautiful. A lot of the beach was lost in last hurricane and the sargasm is getting bad although they work hard to keep it clean. They alternate restaurants for dinner which are all good but breakfast and lunch are pretty much the same buffet options. The ceviche at lunch has amazing! The top shelf options for alcohol are very limited. This did get better a few days before we left and resort ray getting busier for Easter. The staff was great!

This place is sliding downhill much too quickly. This my first negative review in 11 years coming here. When I arrived this time my room had issues, the telephone did not work, the fridge was hot not cold, the air conditioner did not work properly, among other things. The information I was given when I checked-in was sadly lacking. New staff seemed confused and bored. But worst of all there seems to be some conspiracy to prevent guests from using the sailboats. They have placed big orange buoys (ostensibly for seaweed control) ONLY at the one place that the sailboats can get out. These buoys do not prevent the seaweed at all. In fact, it is worse where they put it. A hydraulic engineer has said that this is not an effective approach. and it is curious that they only blocked the sailboat exit, not any other jettys. But I will say that seasoned staff are the saving grace for this place. The young housekeeper that came by tried sooo valiantly to fix everything (and she managed to fix the refrigerator) but she couldn't repair the phone or air conditioner, but she tried a hard as she could. Unfortunately, I do not know her name. Other staff who stood out for their care and concern for me and other guests include Daniel (in charge) at Il de France, who managed to rectify a horrible experience with bad sauce and raw duck, by asking the chef to go out of his way for me the following night. He was so kind and thoughtful and I so appreciated him. Also, the watersport staff Joel and Issac always do the best for guests even when their hands are tied and they are prevented from sailing. Some guests really abuse them because they cannot take out the boats, Jorge and Armando (lifeguards and first aid keep us safe and well looked after, they are kind and responsive as well as highly skilled. I would also like to thank Betty Campo for her pleasant, patient a practical help. I hope that the administration realizes that well-trained, well-informed and happy staff make for contented returning guests. Sure wish we could go sailing.

As usual, El Cid was marvelous but COVID limitations are intrusive when one looks for a leisurely beach vacation. Hopefully things will get back to normal. When it does, you absolutely need to go back to some kind of evening restaurant dress code. Only the French restaurant enforces some code. I resent sitting in the Marina Restaurant, next to a couple in bathing suits, T shirts and flip flops.
