We enjoyed our evening meal here. Our waiter was smiling and helpful with translation. My robalo (bass) was simply grilled and tasty with rice and veg. Her chef's salad, including ham, chicken and cheese, was plentiful. Could not fault this meal but breakfast next day was awful. Set menu provided for our group included watery huevos mexicano which was not freshly cooked and was watery. Cold toast. Best part was the orange juice. And, why oh why, four tv screens in the room? We don't need any.
Our room was spacious but gloomy. Poor lighting; the one bedside lamp could not be moved. Bring a torch for bedtime reading. Using the wash basin puts you on view to fellow occupants. No hand towels. Bath towels not absorbent.
Wifi good in room 211 - but does the World end if you can't receive? If so - stay at home.

This hotel is very clean and nice, but to be clear it is far out of town - though just out the gates are a couple of eating places.

The wifi is only available in the common areas which was very frustrating considering I stayed in another hotel for two nights and they made wifi available everywhere in the compound.

I didn't hear any howler monkeys nor see any birds, but I was up early in the morning and saw the long legged equivalent of a guinea pig.

I recommend the hotel - but as a secondary option not as a first choice.

The hotel has lovely new rooms located in a beautiful garden setting. The facilities are immaculate with good TVs, shower, big beds, etc. The pool is large and a nice temperature for November. Breakfast was only average and the food in the restaurant variable. Some fish dishes were excellent but my fish in breadcrumbs was slightly burnt. If eating sit on the balcony overlooking the river if possible but use insect repellent.

We spent there two nights. Very nice experience. The biggest challenge was to use English. The personals speak just Spanish but we have had nice time. The location is very good and not so far from Palenque pyramids. The breakfast was good with lot of fruits.

As individual travelers we stayed 2 nights; one night in standard-plus room 323 and one night in superior room 103 .

1. The first night we stayed in room 323, on the first floor in a rather new yellow building. That night we have hardly slept because of the neighbors. A Mexican family – a man, two women and two children – was talking, showering, screaming and singing until 01.00 and started at 05.00 in the morning. We could understand them ‘loud and clear’ through the walls.
2. The next morning we complained at the reception about the noise. We wondered (with at most 10 guests in this large hotel with more than 70 rooms!) why they had given us this room next to this family. By coincidence we noticed we had a standard-plus room, although we had booked a superior room. Normally we would not make a problem of this small mistake because the room itself was quite comfortable, but now we asked to change for the superior room hoping it would be a quiet room. The staff explained they would change our room in the afternoon for a more quiet one.
3. When we returned in the evening, we got the key of superior room 103. When we entered our room we discovered, as only couple of individual travelers, that we had a room amidst guests of a French group. The room itself was larger, but the decoration and beds were rather old. Although we hoped that these rooms would be more quiet, the sound isolation of this superior room was even worse than our first room. In the morning – the French guests started at 6.00 in the morning – I thought that my wife was using the toilet, but it was one of our neighbors….
Some pros
- nice location in a forest
- nice restaurant with a decent breakfast for an additional price
- a nice pool (we haven’t used it, because it was raining)
- very friendly staff who lent us a large umbrella for our visit to the ruins

Some cons
- the hotel is 3 km outside the center of Palenque. You need a (rental) car, because the bus to the ruins doesn’t pass this hotel.
- free wifi is very weak (in our first room) or non-existent (in the second room); in the restaurant was the best place to use free wifi

Summarized, although the Nututun hotel has a nice location, the rooms look very nice on photos, we experienced that the rooms are noisy. In February only a few rooms were occupied. We wonder how the sleeping quality will be in the season. We have booked this hotel because the reviews were not that bad and the hotel was promoted in a Mexico-tour of the Royal Dutch ANWB. Now we would say this hotel is at most mediocre. If we would stay again in Palenque, we would try another hotel……..
