Extremely nice houses, pools and especially tours in the national park was a great experience.
Good restaurant in the resort as well as on the beach. Especially ThaiThai is very special and cheap at the same time.

Firstly I would like to say that we enjoyed out stay immensely. We were down there to celebrate my 40th birthday and, for that, it was perfect. We travelled with our little girl, 2.5 years old, and she enjoyed it lots (so many pools to choose from).

We have lived in Thailand for 6 years so we understand how things work. However, at this price, we did feel they could have ironed out the little issues. Firstly the pump for the jacuzzi wasn't working so we had a technician come up and "fix it". In reality he did the Thai engineer thing of saying it is fixed and wandering off. Another 2 hours of filling the system from me (very low pressure) is what is actually took. As I say I am used to this but we were on holiday not renting this as our home.

Then this morning the pump stopped working for the water in the villa. I found a technician very easily and got it fixed. It would just seem to me that they are taking their eye off the ball a touch and letting things run down. My guess is that this villa hadn't been occupied for a couple of months and nobody did an inspection of these 2 water systems which they really should have with a paying customer coming in.

Finally check-out. There is no mention anywhere of the cleaning fee. It is so small it is almost negligible but it is bad form to just "surprise" people with it on check out. It is SO small (B100) you do kind of wonder why they bother when you are paying B3,200 and up per night.

None-the-less that was 3 very small issues but ones that I feel you shouldn't really have to deal with for the price. We did enjoy it but feel that, with a small child, we would be better served by another place in future. This isn't really a "resort" but a VERY nice holiday home complex.

We would go back there again without our little girl. It is not her fault but there were better equipped places nearby that would have suited us better. For a couple.....ideal!

Had the pleasure of staying here during a long weekend escape from Bangkok with my partner. Booked the resort from Booking.com. Pranburi has always been our destination of choice for a short break, but this is the first time staying here. Nothing to fault from this resort. From the moment the staff showed us our villa we were amazed at how friendly, attentive and "willing to go the extra mile" the staff were. Offering us a private dinner on the rooftop instead of dining in the restaurant, great tasting food, western and Thai at appropriate prices (in fact cheaper here than local places on the beachfront) - breakfast was satisfying with outstanding array of choices. Spent the weekend lazing by the shared lap-style pool (shared by 5-6 fronting villas), in the rooftop Jacuzzi (wading pool) and sunbathing in the privacy and peace of the rooftop. During the evening, total serenity. The villa is modern, very very clean, and spacious. Each villa is furnished differently, we had solid timber furniture which was a great 5* touch. Living area, dining and sleeping. Clean linens. Outdoor shower and reasonable size indoor bathroom. Each villa has a BBQ and garden area for outdoor dining if the rooftop is not your thing.

Highly recommended. Nothing to fault. Have booked our next long weekend escape already.

Room Tip: Pretty sure that all have it - but make sure you book the villas with the Jacuzzi on the rooftop.

My wife and I live and work in Bangkok, and have discovered Sam Roi Yod as our favorite weekend getaway place. We like the quiet and natural surroundings that are a huge contrast to the city, but less than 3 hours away. We don’t mind the quiet and places that close early, but someone wanting more action and nightlife would be well advised to look at Hua Hin instead.

We usually stay in one of the small bungalow resorts where we get family style service and atmosphere. On one trip we were driving and exploring the area, when we found Talay Tara. We stopped for a look, and were extremely impressed by the immaculate gardens, spacious villas, rooftop balconies with Jacuzzis, and of course the polite and friendly Thai office staff who took the time to help us and show us the villas. We made a reservation to return to Talay Tara and stay in a two bedroom villa.

The villa we stayed in was one of their newest, and was comfortably decorated. Two bedrooms were convenient; our kids had a room of their own. We really liked the bed that was one of the most comfortable that we have ever slept in during our Travels of Thailand. Having a complete kitchen was a wonderful luxury that we usually don’t have in Bungalow resorts. It allowed us to prepare breakfasts and snacks for our kids easily. The only complaint about the villa was the bathroom, which had an open drain sewage smell that wafted nauseatingly once in a while.

The rooftop balcony was great, and we spent a lot of time up there. The Jacuzzi on the rooftop isn’t actually a Jacuzzi. The pump and massage jets don’t have any real power to give massage feeling. Having said that, it is a nice feature in the villas; to have a splash and cool off, and it was the perfect size and depth for our preschool age kids to play in the water safely.

The restaurant was OK- nothing special but nothing bad. Thai and western food at higher prices than other places on the beach, but not unreasonable.

As we said in the title, we really wanted to like this place. It was the perfect house in our favorite place to visit. Unfortunately, we were seriously turned off by the fat European man who owns the resort, who was constantly shouting at the employees and berating them. He shouted at the restaurant staff and cook shamelessly in front of a restaurant with many customers. We watched him walk into the kitchen and obviously start throwing stuff around – the sound of dishes breaking whilst he bellowed at the top of his lungs at the lady cook was absolutely shameful.

This wasn’t an isolated incident. We saw him deliver similar performance to the gardeners, housekeepers and office staff. It is clear that they don’t understand what he is saying to them; I speak English and I didn’t understand him. All the employees could do was take the abuse. The look of humiliation on the normally happy and smiling faces was obvious every time. I don’t know where this man comes from, but he needs to go back there because he is not cut out for the tourism and hospitality business in Thailand. I will be able to skate across Dolphin Bay before this man and his resort will get another dollar from us.
