It started off badly. We arrived about 5-30 pm for our overnight stop, there was only one person serving (no separate reception area for guests staying at the pub) and she was busy with a crowd of people in the lounge celebrating a birthday. Took quite a while for her to be freed up to give us our key. Asked about parking as we couldn't find any outside the hotel, there isn't a pub car park you have to find somewhere near your room as they are scattered around the periphery of the pub. Our room faced the road and there wasn't a space anywhere near it. An obliging member of staff moved her car to allow us carry our luggage to a top floor room in an adjoining cottage. The room was clean and spacious, no complaints there apart from the antiquated shower attachment which you couldn't use without flooding the floor. We ate in the bar that evening (we couldn't use the restaurant as my wife has dodgy ankles and couldn't get up the winding metal staircase to the room). The food was ok, only 2 choice of real ales which was disappointing. The staff were convivial and I was on the verge of settling on a 4 star review. However, I had reckoned without the breakfast experience. I had the full English. The sausage, tomato and hash brown were hard and dried out on the surface, symptomatic of being stuck under the lights for a very long time (we ate at 7-30 am).
The pub clearly relies on repeat business/commercial trade for its room occupancy and must be doing something right but my feeling is that it is a pub with rooms rather than a hotel.

Room tip: get one with a dedicated parking area away from the main road

Lovely hotel and staff, great location for travelling to Snetterton for the racing.

Good food and atmosphere.

Only downside was we stayed in the Dairy room that had only one window that overlooked the gravel car park, sounded like a car was parking in your room at 3am even with the window closed and there were only a set of blinds, no heavy curtains.

Would stay here again but would choose a different room.

Room tip: Don't have the Dairy room if you want a good nights sleep.

Excellent food and ample portions really good value. Huge choice on menu and I struggled to eat it all.
Good choice of beer
The pub has too bars and a beer garden so plenty of space. Service was good and staff pleasant.
Would come again and recommend the Ploughmans

We booked the Crown Hotel as wanted a place with charm and character, however when we arrived we were shown to a room not in the main building but a cottage which to get to we had to negotiate passed 2 vans, and passed where they store the empties and oil containers, also a noisy air-conditioning/refrigerator unit which was on/off all night! Not what I had envisaged on booking! However the room was spotless but did lack any charm and character that I had hoped for..... The staff were friendly and the food was excellent, we ate lunch and booked a table in the main restaurant where the service was excellent. Breakfast was in the main restaurant and service was prompt, you help yourself to orange juice. we ordered the Full English with scrambled eggs which were delicious, however mushrooms appeared to be tinned which when everything else was fresh was a shame.

The lady I spoke to at check out was lovely, really helpful and suggested booking direct with them and asking for a room in the main hotel, which I will definetley do if we come back to Mundford.

We wanted a family suite which is not always readily available at most hotels, but at the historic Crown they had a quirky flatette with 1 large bedroom (with queen - or as UK calls them, king, and 1 single) and 1 small bedroom (with a small double not big enough for 2 adults -one of our children was fine in it), 1 bathroom (with bath but no shower screen) and one extra WC (the negative being it had no window and no exhaust fan!). First night our double bed mattress was unsatisfactory as we could feel the springs pushing through - it was obviously past its use by date. I passed on the concern and by evening not only did we have new comfortable mattress, so did the other beds. That's good service and redeemed the hotel in our minds. Good breakfast included. Good dinner for a pub - you can ask for smaller serves which are still adequate for average adult which makes the cost reasonable - athough full size is expensive. Best thing about the location and hotel itself is that it's quiet so you can get a good night's sleep.
