Although these Botanic Gardens follow similar structure as other Botanics around the world, they let you understand how nature is in different Australian regions with a special section dedicated to the desert. Very interesting!

We went to the Gardens in the holidays to see the dinosaurs and the kids had a great time. We walked through the gardens and had coffee at the end and it was well set out and heaps to look at for everyone.

As someone who is botanically inclined, I have visited these gardens many times. My most recent visit until July 2017 (about 4 years ago) I thought the place was looking a little tired. On this visit, the gardens have been rejuvenated: the arid centre display, updated rockery area, Tasmanian and grassy woodland areas are very well done. The old reliables such as the Sydney Sandstone Flora area and the Rainforest walk are still brilliant. The area around the Visitor Centre with the non-vascular plants and ferns and orchids is also very nicely done. On the day we were there (school holidays), there were many life-size fibreglass dinosaurs scattered around the gardens, and the place had a vibrancy because there were so many families there - great to see the place attracting this many people.

The Bookshop is great too.

Even in the dead of winter there's still plenty to see. Well done ANBG !

If you like horticulture, this is a great walk. We only dod the Main Path Loop which took about an hour (we walked slowly), but if you take all the side excursion loops you can make an afternoon of it. It was a bit Chilly yesterday but in the Sun we warmed quickly and never felt "cold".. Very good display of vegitation and trees. I can see where families could make a picnic out of it. Excellent trails. Make sure you walk through the Rain Forest. This is a HIGHLY recommend day trip!!
