Friends had recommended Olive at Mawson for months and we finally succumbed. And most definitely worth it. We booked at a very busy time of the year with multiple large parties on the night. But this in no way reflected on the service. From the moment we walked in it we were welcomed like friends and so the night began. Bread delicious. Entrees superb. Mains hearty and desserts a great end to the meal. I have a restrictive diet which the staff and kitchen accommodated with ease. And note for Canberra - reasonably priced. Another great aspect to this hidden jewel in Mawson. Worth the visit - you won’t be disappointed.

We were a group of 29 for a end of year dinner. Aleka went out of her way to provide a banquet for our budget, cater for our gluten free member and our wheelchair member. The food was excellent and Aleka and the entire team could not have been more helpful. We all enjoyed it very much and will most certainly return to Olive.

Cannot thank the staff enough for making this event a resounding success.

Mawson's Southlands is a rundown shopping centre much in need of the landlords putting in some money.
Olive is a star. It stands out.
The food is old fashioned--fill your stomach with stuff that tastes good. It has Greek overtones, but it is very middle class Australian.
I prefer this sort of food to much of the fashionable gook that is being peddled in the CBD. Like many Aussies, I eat out a lot for business and because I am too busy to cook. If my mom had cooked as good as the chef at Olive I would probably not have moved out of home until they threw me out.
Mawson is surprisingly easy to get to. But take a cab or an Uber so you can try some of Olive's lovely wine list.

We enjoyed our dinner at Olive. The menu caters for all tastes and the restaurant offers a good, well priced wine list. We dined as a family and enjoyed the experience. Bookings are essential as its a popular spot, and justifiably so.
