A great meal. Interesting [and some expensive] wine list. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Food is modern Australian. We love this place.

Thank roger h

Let me begin by saying the food was good. Some dishes were great - like the wagyu shoulder with enoki mushrooms. However front of house is really letting the establishment down.

We arrived at 6:40, 10 minutes late but quickly decided on the tasting menu of 7 courses. The waitress then told us as we had the 6:30 sitting, it meant that they would be on a tight schedule and we would need to vacate the table by 8:45pm. This worked perfectly for us as we had had a long week, so assured her we would be fine to eat fast.

The first four courses were fine but definitely not fast. By the time we finished the fourth, it was 8:05 and we were wondering how we were going to be out by 8:45. However then it was a wait game. The fifth course came at 9, and then by the sixth course just never arrived....

Because we weren't given a menu of what to expect in the tasting course, we didn't know how many entrees, mains and desserts there were. We had another main course cutlery set presented infront of us and kept waiting. When we alerted one of the waitresses, she said she'd check but then never got back to us and we continued to wait. Luckily, an hour into the wait, the maitre'd noticed the concerned look on our faces and stopped by. When she spoke to the chef, it was noticeable that they did not know what had happened. Everyone was confused. She then came back and told us our next courses would be swiftly on it's way.

The only problem? The next course she brought us what a course we had already had.....so she then took them back and had to change our cutlery as well to dessert cutlery.

Now hilariously, she mentioned that she would give us something sweeter to us to make up for it. However when the waiter came with the petit four, he asked us whether we were celebrating something (we weren't).

The maitre'd was very friendly and patient, and very apologetic which we appreciated however her team and it seems like their process is really letting the whole experience down.

An early dinner with friends who had that morning flown in from the United States left the best impression. This is one of the most carefully decorated small restaurants in Sydney. It seems that nothing has been left to chance and attention to detail is obvious from the greeting at the door to the farewell on leaving. Tables not too close together which is a rare pleasure. Service was attentive without being intrusive. A forgotten pair of spectacles was quickly met with a magnifying pair on hand.
The steamed scallop pudding was extraordinary. The refinement and combination of tastes everything you could wish for. The raw king fish exquisite in its presentation lived up to its appearance with each layer maintaining its individual taste. The same can be said of the Murray cod [a personal favourite which I have whenever I see it on a menu] served with seaweeds, and purslaine - truly heavenly. The ash grilled duck was perfectly red and the fig accompaniment was just right. No need to try a desert, but next time....

We visited the Bridge Room to celebrate my husband's birthday and the whole experience was rather underwhelming. Food was just 'good' and the front desk person made us feel we were intruding on his time - not what is expected from a hatted restaurant. The only standout was the serving staff, who were keen to help. We had the three course menu - some dishes were great and others average. The Whipped black sesame with puffed black rice dessert is highly recommended. Much better dinner options when paying $200+ per head.

I got the spanner crab, raw waygu, short rib, and comte custard. Every dish was to die for. The waygu was specifically phenomenal. I need to come back and try all of the dishes!
