We stayed here on the very last day of our 40th anniversary trip to Australia. I mentioned this to the sweet lady in the reception when we checked in, and she upgraded us even beyond the room type booked. Our room was on a very high floor over-looking the harbor, the opera house, and the bridge. I could not stop looking out of the window and taking photos as the light changed. They even sent up a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. The room was decorated in subdued Asian fabrics and prints - very luxurious. Our bathroom was the height of marble contruction. We had a very lovely time in this hotel, including dinner in their Altitude restaurant. Highly recommend.

Fabulous hotel. Definitely a 5 star. We stayed in a deluxe harbour view room. Great views over the Opera House & Harbour Bridge. Room was very spacious as was bathroom. The bathroom was beautiful. Staff very good on checkin & out. A bit of a climb up to the hotel but we managed to find a way using lifts!!
Will definitely go back.

We had been looking forward to this adults only evening away for months. We booked a horizon club room with harbour views. Check in and out were all smooth.

The room was really wonderful - particularly as we stayed during the vivid festival and got to see the lights playing on the opera house sails all night. The bathroom was big, the bed was comfy, furnishings were lovely.

We had room service and that came pretty quickly and the club sandwich was good and not cold.

The hotel was busy because it was a long weekend, so the horizon club was crowded during evening drinks and at breakfast the next morning. The food there was of a good standard, but not spectacular and staff struggled to keep the buffet replenished given that it was busy. They were almost all very friendly and helpful.

Pool and gym are nice and were not busy when we used them.

We ordered lunch at the horizon club and they struggled with this - first it took a long time 45 minutes or more for the food to arrive, - apparently it needs to be brought up from the kitchen and it takes them a long time. When the food came, it was incorrect (the chips that were meant to be included with the meal didn't arrive, and neither did the advertised mayo). We gave up waiting for it to be rectified eventually - they did not charge us for these meals.

Visited the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney for another night on Saturday night as we were attending function in the city. We still believe it has the best view in Sydney and rooms are well presented with excellent amenities and full servicing of rooms. We didn't bother with Horizon Club Room as we were having breakfast with friends at Balmoral and didn't see the need for the extra expense.

Room Tip: Grand Harbour View Rooms are the best and offer panoramic view of harbour. Ask for a room up high

It is not an exaggeration to say our stay here was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The hotel itself is elegant and glamorous and the staff really go above and beyond. We had booked a Horizon Club room for the last night of our stay in Sydney, and were truly made to feel like royalty right from the get-go. We arrived well before check-in at around 11am, and we were immediately ushered from the busy lobby upstairs to the Horizon Club room for private check in. Our room was ready right away, which was both a surprise and a relief- we were prepared to wait for check-in at 2pm, though my partner had come down with a cold so being able to go into the room right away was a godsend. The room itself was spacious, complete with a king size bed, luxurious bathtub and stunning views over circular quay and the opera house. The Horizon Club was a real highlight, the staff catered to our every need, sending down lemon, honey and snacks for my ill boyfriend. They really made us feel comfortable and relaxed even though he was sick and I really appreciated that. When it came time to check out we seriously contemplated extending our stay for one more night.Our stay at the Shangri-la Sydney was heavenly and we have already planned to return!

Room Tip: Horizon Club rooms are spectacular- They're bigger, higher and access to the Horizon Club is well worth the extra cost.
