Having spent 6 nights at the Park Hyatt, this was a big climbdown. There were long queues at checkin with fairly indifferent staff. I had read that the breakfast wasn't good value so we ate both mornings at one of the many local restaurants. The location is very good as Circular Quay & the Opera House are within easy walking distance. I wouldn't stay here again as there are so many other options

Arrival and Check In process seemed like a battle.
Had to follow up on room readiness from 3:00( Shangri-La's check-in time ) till 3:45. Got updates like room is being cleaned, supervisor approval on cleanliness required at my cost.

Had to request them several times to get luggage to my room which I finally received after an hour. (4.30).

Great hotel and amenities. Bathroom could have done with a more thorough clean but the L'Occitan products and view of the Sydney opera house from my room was spectacular! Great one nighters for a conference.

Very helpful staff. A busy but good hotel. Breakfast is good. Good location. Hotel top bar is disappointing because it is too hot and views are not close to 360 degrees. Good rooms. Maybe too many attempts at seeing if you want something. Good views of harbor from many rooms--- and harbor is best this big city has to offer.

A lot of the traffic through this hotel are tour groups and people going to and coming from cruise ships. The service is quite clearly geared in that direction, so if you are looking for any form of individualised or personal service it might not be the best choice. The lobby more resembles a bit of a busy bus station, characterless and without charm.

The best rooms with panoramic views of the Opera House and Sydney harbour are quite stunning. However bear in mind you are paying for the views. The quality of the service is at best ordinary. The food in Mix is nothing spectacular and expensive. Find a local restuarant. The lobby lounge has a menu which on 2 days of my stay did not have some of the items listed.

I stayed 9 nights in 2 different room categories. Although both a little tired still very acceptable, great bath and shower. High quality linens, towels and bathroom products. Rooms well serviced with friendly and obliging housekeeping staff. I enjoyed the horizon club. Although it states in the information that the breakfast is "continental" it was much much more. In fact it was more a miniature buffet which was a delight. The service was very very slow with a system in place that took ages to get either a tea or coffee. However, food quality and comfort was excellent. The evening fare was also excellent. Good food selection, for those who drink good wines and beers on offer. The only downside to this facility was often unruly children allowed to do as they wished with parents taking no responsibility for inconvenience caused to other guests. Management rightly should adopt "family friendly" policies but should also have procedures in place to ensure the enjoyment of guests without children to enjoy the facility without having to enter a Playground. It's best feature in both rooms was its beds and pillows

All in all a comfortable hotel. Worth the premium for its views but most certainly not for its sometimes cold and indifferent service

Room Tip: Opera house city view great value- executive suite unbelievable views
