Swissotel Sydney

There are a few things that set the Swissotel apart from other city hotels in Sydney and like any hotel, it depends on what you are after to know whether this place is for you.
Location; In the Myer Building, opposite The State Theatre, on the corner of Market St and the Pitt St ( Westfield) Mall. For those not familiar with Sydney, that pretty makes it in the centre of everything if you like high end shopping with many US and European brands /stores you can't visit anywhere else in Australia.
The entrance to the Swissotel is diagonally opposite the east entrance of the historic QVB, also making it ridiculously easy to walk to from Town Hall Station. For those arriving by rail, you don't have to bother with a taxi from Central Station.
The Swissotel is directly opposite the iconic Sydney Tower, so if you ever get lost anywhere in the city, just look up.
All the delights of Darling Harbour are a five minute walk, including Sea Life Aquarium, Madam Tussauds, Australian Wildlife World, the departure point for about a dozen harbour cruises and the huge array of waterfront dining ranging from super casual to super formal. Within a ten minute walking radius is the dock for P&O International Cruise Liners Darling Harbour, Star City Casino and Paddy's Markets / Chinatown. Circular Quay is a quick train ride from Town Hall Station. If you want beaches, they are all a fair distance from the Sydney CBD, so you would be better off looking at somewhere in Bondi Beach ( not Bondi Junction; they are two different suburbs with a distance between them) or Manly Beach.
This is one of my favourite Swissotels as the interior retains the Art Deco glamour of the hotel's facade, particularly around the elevators.
The staff are helpful and gracious. Unlike many modern hotels in this day and age, the Swissotel seems properly staffed. There were plenty of staff at reception, bell-hops, a concierge, the bar was open and staffed all day, door greeters - the works.
We stayed for 2 nights in one of the Executive Rooms, which gave us access to the Executive Lounge on the 9th floor. The extra premium is worth it.
Our room was large and quiet with a view past Sydney Tower towards the Eastern Suburbs, with Harbour glimpses. It comes with a Nespresso machine and full mini bar. The room was immaculately clean and had a turndown service at night with pillow chocolates, as well as the regular service during the day.
The bathroom had a separate bath / shower and was large enough to fit a good 20 people inside, all accented in black marble.
The Executive Lounge is open from 6am until 10pm and is a highlight. Breakfast becomes a far more intimate affair that the main buffet with a good section of hot and cold quality food, daily newspapers and fresh juices. Afternoon tea is between 1pm and 3pm and runs like a mini high tea. Canapés are served from 5.30pm until 7pm with a selection of unlimited wines, beers and spirits. It is self serve but staff are attentive and will assist / clear plates as you need them to. Outside these hours, the Executive Lounge remains open with soft drink, tea and coffee.
I would absolutely recommend the Swissotel based on location alone. I have stayed all over the world in all kinds of accommodation and would not hesitate to put this place right on top of my list of best places to stay, anywhere.

Stayed here for business a couple of times. Decent hotel. Good location at the centre on CBD.
Breakfast was ok but at AUD$30 (if you book at check in - if not its $42) expected a better spread.
Rooms are good - bathroom was average.
Overall it's a decent hotel for business stay. I wouldn't stay here if I'm on a holiday.

The overall experience was fantastic from the welcome we received from the doorman to all the staff we met on the way to our room. And what a room a real treat, the bed was so comfortable it was a real trial to get out of it in the morning. A MUST is the full breakfast buffet. And look for something very unique (as in I have never seen before) on the condiment table

Room Tip: Next to the lift, but never heard it. Street noise, however that's what I love about the City

The location of the hotel is perfect! It's in the middle of almost everything! Westfield Sky Eye Tower, shopping center, walking distance to Sydney Opera House, Paddy's and Darling Harbour. The hoteliers are every accommodating. Tourists are warmly welcomed. Our room is very spacious and clean. We will definitely go back to Swissotel on our next visit to Sydney.

The concierge were very friendly and could not help more than they did. Very friendly. Immaculate room though the pillows supplied were no good, but you have the option to change them by a pillow menu. Definately recommend. Shopping at your door step. Perfect.
