“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2012

I stayed on the Business Class floor and to be honest, did not want to leave. The room was not huge but for a one-nighter, it doesn't need to be, there was ample space. The bath is large, shower pressure excellent and the bathroom large and spotless. Quality amenities were nice too. Despite being in a busy part of town, there was no traffic noise with double glazed glass, privacy screen and block out curtains. On the Business Class floor, there are lots of little extras like complimentary access to the business centre, lounge, gym and pool. You also have the choice of type of pillow which is a 1st for me and I appreciated it. Mini bar is not excessively expensive, in-room dining menu extensive. The full buffet breakfast has to be seen to be believed! Superb is an understatement. Location is oustanding, close to trains, circular quay, botanic gardens, museums etc and an easy walk to some of sydney's best shopping. I highly recommend this to fellow business travellers.

Helpful friendly staff, comfortable clean accomodations, excellent location, fabulous breakfast, lovely restaurant and nice spa / pool! Anthony at the Concierge desk was incredible, always advantageous from recommending a chemist to a fine dining experience, even the maid staff, Kamala for example, was superior! We stayed twice, once for a week while sightseeing and then 2 nights on our return trip...each time a simply brilliant stay...a stellar hotel in Sydney!

Room Tip: Choose a room on the higher level floors!

We spend 2 nights in Sydney on a 3,5 weeks trip trough Queensland, NSW, VIC, SA and NT. It was our 2nd stop in Australia and we had a very good time. The hotel perfectly represented the brand Radisson. Staff was very friendly and helpful (reception/concierge/porters/housekeeping). We shared a three-bed room. The extra bed was in fact not needed as we had to queen beds with enough room.
We also liked the location with just a short walk to the Harbour and also to George and Pitt Street. Jamie's Italian is just across the street.
What we did not really like was the spa, indoor pool and gym. The latter seemed a bit dated and was just toooo air-conditioned (turning off did not help as it had been cooled down troughout the night). The water temperature in the pool was actually too low and the sitting/relaxing area a bit too small to feel really comfortable. But that are the only complaints we have.

Stayed here for 8 nights in February 2012 on business. Check in was fast and smooth, worth noting is that all credit cards are assessed a 2% fee by the hotel for using a credit card (this is true in a lot of places in Sydney). Key access is a swipe card / proximity chip card for your room and elevator. The rooms themselves are large, clean and stylish and appear to be very recent from a renovation perspective. The baths have separate shower/bath, marble floors, a 110v outlet for shavers, shaving mirror and standard toiletries. Housekeeping came once per day (generally around noon on our floor) and did an excellent job keeping the room tidy. The hotel has a a gym/indoor pool with changing facilities which they will allow you to use for very early check in to shower and change if you get there ahead of your room being available. The hotel also contains a bar/restaurant, the restaurant (Bistro Fax) is expensive but we had a very good meal there first day in Sydney. The bar/lounge is small but staffed by excellent bartenders and is open until (I believe) 11pm daily. I would note that the drinks are not cheap ($8/local beer, 12$/cocktail).

All in all a 4.5-5 star property. i would stay here again especially at the rate of $275 AUD/night, which I thought to be reasonable.

Location:
10 minute walk to Circular Quay (ferry docks/opera house), 10-15 minute walk to The Rocks, centrally located to many businesses, 20 minute walk to Darling Harbour, 25-30 minute walk to Sydney fish market. Cabs are available right outside the main entrance, cabs also appeared to be reasonable and did take credit cards with a swipe terminal right in the cab for Mastercard/Visa/Amex. If you do use a credit card in the cab there is a 10% service charge.

Things to do:
Right across the street on O'Connell street is the Blue Stone Cafe: Amazing breakfast and lunch

The Rocks: Nice Bar scene, great restaurants (check out "The Cut" for a great steak

The ferries: Ferry service to Manly is a must do, good sight seeing, scenic ride

Opera House: Check out the Opera bar right at the foot of the Opera house

CYCA Yacht Club (Rushcutters Bay): Temporary members (free) welcome, cheap drinks, great food, great harbour view with sail boats.

Sydney Fish Market: Take a cab, it's a good walk. Chinese restaurant up top open what I think is every night uses the fresh (live catch) so even if you cannot make it during the morning to see the activity here you can still check out the seafood.
