Location : smack bang middle of city, just short 200 meter walk to shopping mall. you can also walk to chinatown area in 20 minutes and about 15 minutes walk to circular quay where you have the sydney opera house and sydney harbour bridge. there is a huge grocery shopping centre ( Coles ) located at junction of george and king street junction - where you can buy stuff to take back to the hotel. free city loop bus located on George Street outside hotel heading towards the harbour - runs between 09:30am and 03:30pm - you got to cross the road and catch the bus number 555. good idea to catch it on the first day and do the loop the get your bearings - takes you to chinatown as well.
Hotel : we had the twin bed room on level 7, large room with glass wall separating bathroom and bedroom. feels new with modern facilities. yes the swimming pool is located in the adjoining health club and a bit of a walk within the building to get there. took us a while to find the pool.no free wifi within hotel but there is apple main store at junction of george and king street - opposite coles and there is macdonalds there too. if breakfast is not included in package - i would skip it. too expensive ( i think $40 ) to be worth it

Our last stay at the Westin seemed to demonstrate that their standard is slipping.

Firstly, room service varied from fantastic to unsatisfactory in that I made our bed every day and yet they changed it every day with a complete set of new linens - not very 'green' of them.
Other days saw no towels left, no soap left and no glasses left. To their credit a phone call to 'service express' fixed this quickly.

Internet service was expensive and unreliable.

Late checkout does not exist. It is sold as part of some room packages but never yet have I been able to achieve a checkout later than noon.

Breakfast service in the restaurant was extremely poor. Often we waited in line for admission to the dining room for the breakfast which was part of our package. Once in, getting a coffee demanded far more effort on my part than it was worth. We had to ask almost every morning for coffee. Refills were seldom offered.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. The service has slipped. The standard however remains high.

Don't expect to become a memorable guest here. Staff are polite and work to a strict code which dictates that the guest feel valued but not special. You'll be pulling a special act to get any staff member to remember you for more that five minutes.

The beds are great, the place smells wonderful (so will you after your first shower) but somehow, it is NOT a spa hotel and somehow you will NOT feel like a special or memorable guest.

The service is good, but NOT personal.

Room Tip: Anything above level 14. These are bigger rooms than the ones lower down.

Just stayed here a night for business. This is a great hotel, truly deserving of 4.5 or 5 star status. At $195 this was great value. Must have had something to do with the Easter break. Anyway, the rooms are sweet. Nice large flat screen TV. The bathroom was a real highlight as well. Stylishly designed! You could sit in the deep bath, watching TV through a glass wall. And sound wasn't an issue as there were extra speakers in the bathroom. And they even had CNN and CNBC..which is rare to find at Aussie hotels!
Location wise, close to Darling Harbour and many other sights. I don't think it gets much better than this. Highly recommended.

Styed for three days/2 nights... was completely not what I expected. Reception was slow and unfriendly - had to wait an hour for my room to be ready - stayed in a Grand Club room, which is not worth it in a value/quality context. Club Lounge is completely uninspiring, with a lack of ambiance and friendly, attentive service reps. My room was filthly and had hair all over the bath, toilet and showers, including on my bed... cleaniliness was definitely an issue. Amenities are poor and run down. I don't know what all the fuss and positive reviews are on this site, but felt completely cheated and misguided by the reviews below. Will never stay there again and had a very poor first impression of Sydney from this hotel. Shame... what a waste of a perfectly good location. Would prefer ShangriLa or Four Seasons to this anyday...

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor

The rooms at the Westin are either in the Tower (modern contemporary style) or heritage (elegant, restored in the GPO). I prefer the modern tower rooms which have a great shower (including rain shower) and bath. The Westin bed always gives a good nights rest.

As a platinum guest I have access to their pleasant executive lounge which serves a wholesome breakfast, light snacks during the day and evening cocktails. Room internet is wifi and fixed ethernet.

I've stayed many times at the Westin and have found that now I'm a regular guest my experience i improving every time. More staff are welcomimg me by name which is a nice personal touch. Although there's still a grumpy gentleman on the concierge desk that doesn't seem to enjoy his role as much as he should....

The gym is very good as well. Pool, weights and good cardio equipment.

In summary, great location, comfortable rooms but expensive (high room rates, parking is super expensive).
