Forsyth Bed & Breakfast

Certificate of Excellence

Staying at Forsyth B&B was absolutely wonderful. Gary and Julie made sure we felt welcome from the start and were extremely helpful in helping us organize our stay in Sydney - from the moment we contacted them.

Even before arriving Gary advised, not to rent a car and instead use their airport pick up service, which is very reasonably priced as taxi rates in Sydney are insanely high! Furthermore, he told us where we best could pick up the rental car and at the end of the stay dropped us there with our luggage. During our stay, we were provided with Sydney bus tickets and only paid later what we used. This made travelling around extremely convenient and cheap.

The house and room (we stayed in the Rozelle room) are cozy, yet spacious and very stylish, a real home away from home. I loved the smell of the gorgeous Lilies around the house.

Gary's breakfast served on the terrace was amazing - fresh fruit, juice, muffins, home made blueberry-banana pancakes and the best Bircher Style Muesli we've tasted. We always ate way too much as it was so good and would keep us going for the whole day.

As a small honeymoon gift, we got a wine bottle voucher from Gary for the local wine bar/restaurant Timbah, which we used on the second night. The food there was delicious, as was the wine. Lovely small place for a romantic dinner :)

We felt very welcome in the house and it was fun chatting with both Gary and Julie during our stay. They have a wealth of advice how to get around Sydney and what is worth visiting.

The only regret we had is that we didn't stay longer. When in Sydney, we would definitely not stay anywhere else.

The location might seem a bit further our, but bus connections are close and bring you straight to the centre or even Bondi. The Glebe area is wonderfully quirky and we could find lovely, affordable places to eat just a short walk down the street.

Room Tip: Rozelle room has ensuite bathroom and lovely balcony

Great to hear that Forsyth BnB provides a home away from home for its guests, and that you thought the breakfast was amazing – the chef will take any compliment that comes his way! Timbah, the local Wine Bar, is popular with guests and locals, and provides a cosy and relaxing place to eat and sample local and international wines – best of all, it’s only a few minutes walk away and its downhill on the way home.

From the moment we contacted Gary by email we knew that it was going to be an excellent stay. Gary picked us up from the hotel we were staying (for work) and on the way to his B&B we chatted like we were old friends. He and Julie go out of their way to insure you have the best stay possible. We stayed in the Rozelle Room and found it very clean, spacious and comfortable with a very nice balcony. The bathroom attached to the Rozelle room is also very spacious with lots of room to store your toiletries! Gary helped us purchase our bus tickets and gave us multiple rides throughout the city. Breakfast was delicious! The muffins are fantastic and on several occasions when we were running a little late Gary even wrapped them up so we could grab and go. We were even there for the first kookaburra visit! The Forsyth Inn is located in a great neighborhood with some wonderful restaurants and Darling Harbor and the Fish Market are with in easy walking distance. There is a bus stop close by that will take you to Circle Quay and The Rocks. Over all we could not have chosen a better place to stay and would stay again without a doubt. Gary and Julie made our visit to Sydney very special!

Great to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us here at Forsyth and that you consider it to be a “top notch” establishment! Local knowledge is great when it’s shared and I’m so pleased that Charlie the Kookaburra timed his first visit well, to coincide with your stay!!

Imagine staying over with family friends while you're on vacation. That's exactly what staying at Forsyth Bed & Breakfast feels like. Gary and Julie (& Bacchus the Birman!) are wonderful hosts; their house is beautiful and well-kept, my friend and I ate breakfast like kings every morning and both Gary and Julie went out of their way to make sure that we were warm, comfortable and prepared for our daily excursions.

My friend had never been to Sydney and I, on the other hand, was keen to re-visit the places I loved most when I studied there some years back. Forsyth B&B is situated at perfect location - a stone's throw away from Sydney attractions like Darling Harbour and the Fish Market and it's in one of the hippest neighbourhoods in Sydney.

I'm sure other reviewers here share the same sentiments as me: why stay in any hotel when you can get top-notch Sydney hospitality at Forsyth B&B?

So pleased to hear that you both felt at home here at Forsyth BnB and that the location in the hip neighbourhood of Glebe suited you and made your trips to the attractions of Sydney and NSW so easy. Forsyth BnB offers quite a different experience to Sydney hotels, and this feedback confirms it's meeting its guests’ needs.

I stayed with Gary and Julie while attending a workshop around the corner. I wish I had more time to explore Sydney. Gary certainly gets you going with coffee and breakfast and is a wonderful conversationalist and cook. The location is great in a funky neighborhood just down from the university. Wonderful restaurants and great advice from Gary and Julie. I took their advice on a Thai restaurant and as I came in, there they were! I felt very welcome all the time, whether I wanted to sit and chat, or chill in the room and check up on email. Racking my brain, but can't think of anything critical to say. Thanks Gary and Julie!

Thank you for your warm words regarding your experience at Forsyth BnB. Glebe really does have a lot of character in both its built environment and its residents! The early morning conversation over coffee was a great inspiration in the kitchen!!

Gary is the consummate host, very welcoming and providing every assistance possible, which even included bringing a pot of tea to our room in the evening !!! Breakfast is an experience, with homemade pancakes and muffins, and if that is not enough Gary will then make you a cooked breakfast
