Tried a couple of different burgers here recently, Old Blue was so so , as I'm not sure the fusion of flavours involved worked for me . . . More Recently Chur Beast was great , you will have to remove one patty to eat separately as it's a bit of a jawbreaker . . Downside is can be a bit pricey with some burgers around $18 . . . And the pumping thumping music can be a bit much . . But staff very friendly so they seem to enjoy it . . Would try again and recommend

The brochure in the hotel room listed the 10 best burger joints in Sydney, and this one was (a) first on the list and (b) within walking distance of my hotel, so it was the logical choice.
I had the Ol’ Blue, with beef, blue cheese, aged cheddar, hot smoky bbq sauce, deep-fried battered onion rings.
At $14 it’s getting up there with some of our better burgers at home in Auckland, NZ, but I have to say it didn’t compare with them in terms of quality and taste.
The White Lady would blow it into the weeds, let alone the likes of Burger Fuel, Burger Wisconsin and others.
The bun was a bit flabby and uninteresting, and the bbq sauce dominated the flavour, almost killing the blue cheese. The cheddar didn’t make itself apparent at all.
They did have some craft beers on the menu and the Sydney pilsener I had was pleasant enough.
Would I go back and try some others on the menu? I don’t think so. If this is one of your 10 best Sydney then someone needs to come to NZ and get some ideas – we’re doing it so much better.

Milo milkshake was great and the lamb patty was good. The chicken salted fries instead came with chili salt and were undercooked. Way too much mayo on the burger. How about adding some salad. Really disappointing!

The Surry Hills outlet does have a funky eating area with lots of space and lots of beer so is worth stopping by. The patty was medium rare but did not seem to match the meat quality of Burger Project or Mary's (who unfortunately cook the crap out of their patties). The bun was better than the weak milk buns of others but still a bit like a tasteless oversized burger king bun. I just want someone to pair a quality patty with a slightly crunchy and flavoursome bun. Chur's pickles and veges added to the burger flavour but made it messy, while I could barely taste the sauce. Overall, it was bigger and better than the competitors that I've been to, but I don't see how any of these trendy burger joints are any better than the 90s heyday of pub burgers.
