We stayed at Elkira in October and enjoyed the stay.
Dan and Bikram were extremely accommodating and friendly.
The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable.
Location is in the middle of Alice Springs and we could walk everywhere except to the Casino, which is not a must to attend.

Room tip: Book in advance. Don’t travel the streets of Alice Springs at night, the local Indigenous are likely to roll you so Elkira offers close pr.

We booked a room with a spa - pictures online looked good but the bathroom and kitchenette cupboards were very worn and damaged, light switch damaged, and spa looked grubby with age - so we didnt use it. But worst of all was the location of our room at ground level right outside was the communal smoking area. We had no privacy unless we kept the curtains closed - there were no net curtains so everyone walking by could see right in. Unfortunately there were no other rooms available - perhaps a first floor room with a balcony might have been ok. The footpaths and outdoor seating areas need a good tidy up - very messy. Brochures in the reception area were mostly water damaged so should have been thrown out but still sitting in the racks. Bought our own kettle as the one there was not clean. Overall a bad impression and we did moved to another motel. We were grateful to get a refund for our remaining 3nights. On the plus side the motel is very close to the shops and has a pool area that looked ok compared to the rest of the motel.

Elkira is right in town which makes it easy to get around without using a taxi. The rooms are fairly basic but bed comfortable, hot water and good security. They close the gate at 7pm and it is easy to get back in after hours. The staff were very friendly and helpful and organised a car pickup to the airport after check out. As our flight was delayed they also allowed an extra hour to check out which was much appreciated.

We went to Simply Korean for dinner, a nice walk, maybe 20 mins, and then walked home but took a different route on the main road.

Breakfast the following morning at a fabulous cafe in Arcade. (can't recall name) but highly recommend it. fabulous coffee and tasty food.

For a 1 night stay would recommend.

This is not the Ritz Carlton. But it doesn't claim to be and I would definitely stay here again. It was clean, comfortable, safe, and an easy walk to most everything we wanted to do in town. There's a fridge in the room and a hot pot to make instant coffee. Yes you could hear street noise at night and if people on the street are yelling you can hear it in the room. But that was temporary and only one night for a few minutes. (can't control the population...). We didn't want to drive, and this made it easy to walk to all the bars and restaurants, the grocery store, bus stop, etc. Most of the upscale hotels are much farther away so you'd have to get transportation back and forth or just stay on their property. This worked out great for us and I'd stay there again. Just know it's not the Ritz (and Alice Springs isn't Sydney)...

The Elmira Motel provided excellent vale for money. The room we had was large and very comfortable with a fridge, microwave and basic eating utensils. Being close to the town centre and also the railway station you were in close proximity to many attractions and also supermarkets, other stores and eating places.

Room tip: Parking was available on site with the area secured after 7pm. Staff were excellent and offered advice about what to do in Alice inns
