On first glance the menu looked limited, but instead of cancelling we went ahead and had our late lunch. Food was really yummy!

Good place for food at Port Douglas.
The entree and the starters were great.
Only complaint is the steaks were overcooked.
Thanks guys!
We made a booking a few weeks in advance on the recommendation of a friend, and I’m glad we did. If we hadn’t made the booking and were choosing a place I would’ve walked right past Salsa based on the staff in t-shirts and the merchandise for sale at the front counter. It doesn’t really gel with an otherwise upmarket feel to this restaurant! The staff were very attentive, the food was lovely (especially the tuna) and the cocktails were great. That said, even if we found the branding to be a bit odd and the t-shirts a bit casual, it clearly doesn’t affect the business as they were fully booked! Would happily recommend to others.
I had made reservations months in advance based on the ratings and reviews. In the end, the food and service fell short in many regards. We ordered garlic bread, agadashi tofu, pork filled poppers, and chargrilled octopus to start. Most of the starting items were disappointing in terms of flavor and portion. With entrees, our group went with gnocchi, kangaroo loin, black angus eye fillet, with the ladies having a house salad. The kangaroo was quite good - well seasoned and prepared. The steak was run-of-the-mill, and not worth the amount spent given what I could get for the same price back in Chicago. The sad part was the salad seemed to be the hit of the evening. Service was dreadfully slow throughout the night. We had to ask other wait staff to help out (filling water, taking order, cleaning plates, desert menu, etc) when we couldn’t get a hold of our waitress. The bill was staggering - the equivalent of what I’d spend at a 1-2 Star Michelin rated restaurant but without the same quality of food or service. Disappointing overall given the hoopla on Trip Advisor and other forums.
Great place good service and tropical, food was excellent and the atmosphere charming, recomended by motel we stayed at and hard to get a booking as so popular. Will go again .
